Politicians Keynesian Economics Exposed

December 31, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 14:56 PM

Here are four videos that should be shown to every person in the United States from the age of 12 upward. They are well narrated and easy to understand the basic concepts of economics with no bias. Truly amazing and unusual in today’s culture of blame and greed in Washington DC. The videos are presented by the Center for Freedom and Prosperity. Dan Mitchell from the CATO Institute is the moderator.

The first video explains the Laffer Curve and the relationship between tax rates, taxable income and tax revenue. It also dispenses with some myths about the Laffer Curve and economics.

The second video looks at real world evidence of changing marginal tax rates in the United States and other countries.

The third video explains our governments static policy of estimating taxes. Federal government stupidity at its finest.

The final video explains why Keynesian economic policy is so loved by democrats and dictators the world over. Basically this economic policy is used to justify the federal governments theft of wealth from some of it’s citizens and channeling the wealth to the citizens they favor.

Wonderful videos and a big thanks to the Center for Freedom and Prosperity, Dan Mitchell, CATO and the Heritage Foundation.

The only area I disagree on is the flat tax as a good alternative to our tax code. The flat tax has been shown to be unworkable in the United States due to the corruption in Washington DC. The fair tax would take power from Washington politicians and is sorely needed as a recipe to fight corruption.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd. George Bush all favor Keynesian economics. The democratic party only seems to know Keynesian economics. Hopefully the people will get the fair tax passed by a massive uprising as the realization these politicians sold them into third world economic status.

Igor Panarin Predicts Break Up Of The United States

December 31, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 14:50 PM

Andrew Osborne recently submitted an article for the Wall Street Journal detailing Igor Panarin, a former KGB operative and dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s academy for future diplomats. Mr. Panarin has for a decade been predicting the break up of the United States around the year 2010. The reasons for the break up are the same cast of characters that has destroyed countless nations in the past. Moral collapse, economic collapse and racial diversity all plague the United States.

We are a divided country led by unscrupulous politicians who give the health and wealth of the nation little or no consideration. The only common characteristic Republicans and Democrats have is they backstab their supporters and opponents with equally vicious blows. Bush, Greenspan, Dodd, Frank, Schumer, Lott, Frist, Obama, Pelosi, Boxer, Reid, Daschle and many others have plowed the ground for a civil war to erupt. It’s been a long time coming. Beginning in the 50’s with the disintegration of our public schools, the 60’s with the disintegration of our immigration policy and border controls, the 70’s with the destruction of our capitalist economy by Nixon and Carter, and now the disintegration of our economy and the dollar. Simply put the politicians forgot who they worked for and pursued their own=2 0self interest. The founding fathers were mostly Libertarian for a reason. They had been through the dictators and theft by the powerful from the masses. With 44% of our money going to the government this lesson is repeated today. This was the lesson our leaders long ago lived and learned by in creating our country. Libertarian government works and the rest leed to legalized theft and tyranny.

To quote Mr. Panarin, “There’s a 55-45% chance right now that disintegration will occur,” he says. “One could rejoice in that process,” he adds, poker-faced. “But if we’re talking reasonably, it’s not the best scenario — for Russia.” Though Russia would become more powerful on the global stage, he says, its economy would suffer because it currently depends heavily on the dollar and on trade with the U.S.

For those to point to Mr. Panarin as a crack pot he astutely points out French political scientist Emmanuel Todd. Mr. Todd is famous for having rightly forecast the demise of the Soviet Union — 15 years beforehand. “When he forecast the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1976, people laughed at him,” says Prof. Panarin.

The method of succession chosen this time will not be as dramatic as Fort Sumter back in 1860. The states will simply fail to require its citizens and businesses to pay Washington taxes. Starve the beast. A fairly simple non violent form of succession.

Here is a map of the divided United States predicted by Mr. Panarin.

Will this come about? History shows different languages, racial and ethnic groups and values split countries. Czechoslovakia broke up peacefully into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The USSR broke into 15 countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. The Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungry Empire and Rome. all broke apart The list is as long as recorded history. Why would we think we are any different? Who wants to live with people they share no values with or attraction to? We fight to have a place where we can live in peace not tyranny.

I must strenuously disagree with Mr. Panarin about the possible future composition of the divided United States. I am assuming a couple of things. First the governors involved will be intelligent enough to realize the need to maintain the military and its readiness. Second the basic attitudes of the indigenous people will be reflected in their leadership to some extent.

Strategically and militarily the best make up of a new country would be Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas , Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, the southern part of Virginia, Colorado. Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, the southern portion of Illinois, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Alaska. This would ensure access to the Pacific and Atlantic waters, nuclear arsenals and enough population to support the military financially. There are three types of nuclear forces, land, sea and air. The central states control two of the three. Extremely important militarily.

Letting Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Maryland and the District of Columbia free to pursue draconian tax and society control policies would be a blessing for the newly separated country. Similarly letting Washington State, Oregon and California pursue their dreams would only strengthen the new country.

I do not fear a government with a constitution that states the principal of the founding fathers. Freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Strict limits on taxation and federal control should ring throughout the new constitution. Limit the new federal government to the military and the courts. Let the states social engineer. The break up of the United States is inevitable. We are too diverse and divided. Let’s do this in a civil manner like Czechoslovakia did in 1993. We can split the debt and live in peace. People can=2 0pursue and live under they type of government they wish to. The United States has been gutted like a pig and ripped off by the politicians once to many times. Kill the beast and be done with it.

AUSTRALIAN CARTOONS…NEVER SEEN IN AMERICA

Thank heaven we still have friends to the USA who see things clearly and have the guts to present them in print.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT — THESE CARTOONS ARE FROM OUR FRIENDS ‘DOWN UNDER’.

WHY DO WE NEVER SEE SIMILAR IN USA PAPERS??

Maybe because the media is no longer friend to America?

That seems like a crock from my vantage point.

India and Pakistan seem to be orienting their militaries for a possible conflict.
John Bolton speculated that an Obama victory would prompt an Israeli raid before Obama settled in.
There’s the Iranian nuclear program.
Then there is a sophisticated new air defense system (the S-300 air defense systems) which Iran says is on the way from Russia that makes Israel more than a little uneasy.

Of course the Russians deny this.

Pakistan is moving troops away from its frontier with Afghanistan.
This means the Taliban is free to operate out of Pakistan’s lawless regions.

Will there ever be peace in the Middle East? EVER?
Why would any of us think so since there has not been for the last 2000 years or so?

I tire of those sniveling and whining about Israel’s attack back on Hamas.
I have to wonder exactly what those same people would say living under the threat of a bomb being lobbed into their own backyard.

You can not tell me that the USA for a millisecond would stand for that kind of threat on her own soil.

Can anyone spell annihilate?

We all better hope Obama is able to hit the ground running with all of the problems on the Presidential horizon.

Alan Greenspan and the Crash

December 28, 2008
Posted by Economics9698 @ 11:41 AM

Alan Greenspan was from 1987 to 2006 the Chairman of the Federal Reserve of the United States. Basically he set Federal Reserve interest rates, performed oversight on the Federal Open Market committee (FOMC) and set reserve requirements for banks. The first function grabs all the headlines in the press. And deservedly so since this operation affects home loans, credit card rates and what banks can borrow from other banks. But it was the second function that created as much of the financial mess as the first one. But let’s start off with the first function specifically the federal funds (FF) rate.

Alan Greenspan did an incredible job for many years. Many economists were in awe of his ability to anticipate 3 months to a year down the road what the economy would be doing. This is referred to as “lag” effect on the economy. Simply put what Mr. Greenspan did in March would not have an effect for months. It takes a real master and a little luck to get monetary policy right looking so far in the future but give Mr. Greenspan credit. He did it for years under Reagan, Bush I and Clinton.

In 1987 when Black Monday occurred and the stock market crashed 22% (the equivalent of a 3,000 point drop in the 2008 market) Mr. Greenspan was masterful in restoring confidence in markets. The Federal Reserve pumped money into the markets and restored confidence. By the end of the year the stock market was in the black by going from 1.897 in January to 1,939 in December. A textbook example of how to handle a crash. Alan Greenspan’s reputation as the master of the Federal Reserve was born.

So what happened under Bush II? A good insight comes from following Mr. Greenspan’s corrections of the FF rate.

In 1987 the FF rate was 6% to 7.3%. Played like a master through the crash. 1989 as the Savings and Loan debacle was coming unhinged Greenspan raised the rate to 9.8%. A master stroke that caused a lot of silly loans that would have been made to become expensive even to the most blinded speculators. Now keep in mind the Savings and Loan disaster didn’t play itself out fully until 1990-91. Mr. Greenspan was ahead of the curve, saw what was coming and reacted properly. He made money more expensive for speculators saving the America public billions of dollars in bail out money. A masterful job of running the Federal Reserve.

As Mr. Greenspan saw the negative impact of the Savings and Loan disaster on the economy and the slowdown in economic activity he dropped the FF rate to 4.49%. Once again brilliant use of monetary policy. Everyone with inside business knowledge griped here and there but there was no disputing Mr. Greenspan was keenly aware of what was going on in the economy and was moving monetary policy in the right direction.

In the early 90’s as the economy tanked and Clinton came to power and raised taxes. The FF rate was lowered to 2.91%. As the 90’s went on Clinton cut capital gains taxes and signed the NAFTA free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico the economy began to heat up again. The FF rate climbed to 4.5% to 5.5%. Steady and calm as it should be for a steady and calm economic growth period. Well done, we all enjoyed the 90’s.

As the 90’s closed and the Internet stock exploded and went crazy huge amounts of wealth were being created. Mr. Greenspan gave his famous speech in 1996 about the stock market and irrational exuberance.

Mr. Greenspan 12-05-1996 “Clearly, sustained low inflation implies less uncertainty about the future, and lower risk premiums imply higher prices of stocks and other earning assets. We can see that in the inverse relationship exhibited by price/earnings ratios and the rate of inflation in the past. But how do we know when irrational exuberance has unduly escalated asset values, which then become subject to unexpected and prolonged contractions as they have in Japan over the past decade?”

Clearly Mr. Greenspan was way ahead of the curve since the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ) didn’t crash until April 2000. And as this new wealth flooded Americas markets creating the specter of overpriced assets and inflation what did Mr. Greenspan do? Raised the FF rate to 6.85% putting a damper on inflation. Brilliant once again.

So what happened under Bush II? As money came into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac flooding the home mortgage markets Mr. Greenspan didn’t notice? No! Mr. Greenspan did notice. He is recorded several times warning congress that more oversight and tighter financial restrictions need to be placed on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Every chance he got from 2003 he mentioned the for coming crisis to congress until he retired in 2006. He was not ignorant. He just failed to act.

Why? Only Mr. Greenspan knows. What we do know is by 2002 the FF rate was 1.23%. Justifiable since the economy was recovering from 9-11 and a recession. As the sub prime loans began to dominate the markets starting in 2003 driving up real estate cost faster than inflation what happened? Mr. Greenspan LOWERED the rate to .97%. The exact opposite of his earlier actions under similar circumstances. The FF rate stayed at 1% through much of 2004 as foreign funds flooded US market in search of stable sure returns and sheer speculation. In essence Mr. Greenspan opened the floodgates of plentiful cheap money. Why?

Was he a saboteur? Did he want democrats to gain power? A financial collapse so well timed for the 2008 election certainly would not be beyond the capabilities of Mr. Greenspan and others with access to trillions in funds. We will never know the story for years but what is certain is Mr. Greenspan had a history of doing the right thing and he went against everything he had accomplished in the past to facilitate the destruction of the economy.

Eventually the FF rate was raised to 5.27% in 2007 as the housing markets were crashing all around everyone. The opposite of what should have happened. This intentional or unintentional destruction of markets by the Federal Reserve and it’s manipulation of interest rates is a text book example of why many economist think this power should be taken away from the Federal Reserve. Many economist feel interest rates should be set by market forces alone. Currently the FF rate is 0.13%. Yes 0.13%. The Federal Reserve is scrambling to restore credibility and facilitate money growth. Similar to closing the barn door after the horses have all escaped.

The FOMC actions are more complex but basically Mr. Greenspan was increasing money stock (MZM) during this period of 2003 to 2006. This while foreign investment was flooding our markets. Mr. Greenspan should have been stabilizing or even shrinking the money sock by selling treasury bonds and taking the money off the market and into the treasury. Coupled with raising interest rates and the housing bubble would have at the very least been mitigated if not eradicated.

Now the Federal Reserve is increasing stocks of money faster than ever. What is the next housing bubble? Most likely our currency. Our monetary base has gone up from $824 billion to $1,435 billion in 2008! Normally this change is from 0% to at the most 15% from year to year. This year it has grown an astonishing 80%! We are in very serious times.

If the congress fails to cut taxes or better yet scrap the current tax code and adopt the fair tax we will have a dollar collapse similar to third world countries like Argentina, Venezuela and the former USSR. Congress needs to cut taxes now; Congress needs to take away the power of the Federal Reserve to set interest rates. The Federal Reserve needs to quit increasing the money supply. Congress needs to quit baling out everyone. But none of this will happen. When it all collapses we will once again need to rely on each other to get through this. As we have for centuries.

History repeats itself. I wrote about him in my first post on this web site. And here is more evidence of Keynesian economics and the democrats seizing power for the foreseeable future. Another example of the people having their trust betrayed by selfish and political motives. Mr. Greenspan will go down as one of the worst Federal Charimans along with Eugene I. Meyer (September 16, 1930 – May 10, 1933), Eugene R. Black (May 19, 1933 – August 15, 1934), Marriner S. Eccles¹ (November 15, 1934 – February 3, 1948).

Rezko attorney ‘owns’ Obama mansion?

December 26, 2008

Apparently the public expecting the President of the USA to be honest, moral and ethical is to much to ask these days. This continued discovery and reporting of some unethical deal regarding Barack Obama is getting old. Unfortunatly it now looks like this will be an ongoing occurrence for some time to come. I have to wonder just how long Obama can dodge the issues that face him expecting the majority who elected him are not smart enough to put 2 and 2 together.

It appears those who HOPED for change in Washington have been “DUPPED AGAIN” … only this time we are going to get shafted Chicago style.

An attorney for convicted fundraiser Tony Rezko is listed as the owner and taxpayer for Barack Obama’s Chicago mansion, according to records obtained by WND.

William Miceli is a lawyer at the Chicago law firm Miner, Barnhill & Galland, which also formerly employed Obama.

The controversy began when a website called News and Commentary for Thinking People published a 48-page document that lists Miceli as the owner of the Obama home at 5046 S. Greenwood.

Miner, Barnhill & Galland was Obama’s employer when he did extensive legal work for Rezko, who awaits sentencing after he was convicted in June of fraud, money laundering and bribery-related counts.

Miceli, as a senior attorney at the firm, supervised Obama when the future president wrote letters on behalf of Rezko urging public authorities to award him new public properties to rehabilitate, notes the “Barack Book” website maintained by GOP.com.

WND asked for comment from Obama’s transition team and the Democratic National Committee but did not receive a response.

Is the war in Iraq worth it?

December 22, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 16:48 PM

I have to tell you I get a little frayed around the edges when I hear people leap on their soapbox and rail against the war in Iraq.

There are those ever screaming about NO WMD … I say who cares?
Here is my problem with a big percentage of these people … had the Democrats been in office and pulled the same stunt everyone would have been waving flags shouting yippee.

Well of course every card carrying anti-war protester is going to scream “WOULD NOT !” … that would define them as hypocrite … RIGHT?
Damn straight !

I recall the same conversation only in reverse when Clinton pulled his diversion escapade in Bosnia.

Do we forget that Clinton’s ill-conceived decision to prod NATO into bombing Yugoslavia in March 1999 wreaked havoc? The hundreds of thousands of refugees, the civilians killed by NATO bombs, the U.S. soldiers captured, the solidification of domestic support for Serbian strongman Slobodan Milosevic, the dangerous chill in U.S.-Russian relations-all those things come to pass when Clinton made his fateful decision.

I hardly heard a negative boo from the anti-war crowds. Why?
Because it was their guy yelling the war cry.
Hypocrites or ill informed? Maybe both?

Who do you believe about Iraq?
They are worse off since we put our troops there?
Seeing Iraqi’s free today (free to lob a shoe at our president and remain with head) seems common logic that indeed they are … so why the bad rap against the war?
Where do these people come up with the information they spout?
Most of those spouting are sitting home in some dark corner with laptop keyboards under fevered fingers typing away. Then the news media (who no longer does their own footwork) taps into the blogosphere for the nightly news.

To make the situation worse the general population tunes in and BELIEVES them.
Does that define dumbed-down in a different way?

Not long ago I heard someone rapping on about the people of Iraq hating us. I asked “how do YOU know that”? “Have you actually gone to Iraq and interviewed any of these haters”? Of course the answer was no and the other anti-war factions propaganda was the base of his ill will.

Since I knew a number of people serving in Iraq (National Guard) as well as a few civilian workers there helping to rebuild … all having a totally different perspective of what the grassroot Iraqis thinks of the USA. It gave me pause to reflect on who was right?

I opted for those on the ground with real life experience.
Somehow I do not expect people in the thick of things to make that stuff up.

The guy in some dark corner hammering away on his laptop? … lacks creds for me … sorry.
I guess its up to you on who you choose to believe.

Check out another perspective on the standing of the USA in the eyes of others.

Chicago …. Who Runs it?

Senators: Barack Obama & Dick Durbin

Representative: Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Illinois Governor: Rod Blogojevich (arrested)

Illinois House leader: Mike Madigan

Illinois Attorney General: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)

Chicago Mayor: Richard M. Daley (son of Mayor Richard J. Daley)

The leadership in Illinois ? …..all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago .

Body count in the last six months: 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago

221 killed in Iraq

State pension fund – $44 Billion in debt, worst in the country.

Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax – 10.25% highest in country. (Look it up).

Chicago school system – rated one of the worst in the country. (Supt of Schools just appointed Sec. of Ed.

Of course, they’re all blaming each other. They can’t blame Republicans because there aren’t any.

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois and he’s going to’”fix” Washington politics for us?

“News instinct not FACT?”

December 20, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 11:03 AM

News instinct?

Bingo! … I have asked this same question over and over. Who investigates what for news facts? Apparently no one.

We not only have lazy government officials (who barely show up for the job they are handsomely paid to perform) … we now have the press that sit on their duff in some cushy office spouting WHAT THEY THINK is news rather than going out to get THE FACTS themselves.

In one of the more incisive indictments of the MSM, certainly by one of its own, Joe Scarborough tore into the media this morning for its failure to have investigated Barack Obama’s political roots. In particular, the Morning Joe host ripped the MSM for not testing the truth of Ryan Lizza’s reporting, above, of Rahm Emanuel’s claim that he and Obama were central figures in Blago’s 2002 gubernatorial campaign. Scarborough pointed out that already this summer, when the Lizza article appeared, it was known that Blago was under a deep ethical cloud. Yet the MSM charged off to Wasilla to investigate Sarah Palin’s librarian, utterly uninterested in the report of Obama’s intimate link with America’s most corrupt governor. John Harwood of NYT/CNBC and Mike Barnicle played the perfect foils for Scarborough’s impassioned tirade, Barnicle going so far as to claim that no investigation was necessary: his “instinct” told him that Emanuel had overstated Obama’s involvement with Blago’s campaign.

The great depression or worse?

December 19, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 22:00 PM

It is probably a good idea if we all fasten our seat belts and brace ourselves for hard times.
How hard? It does not look good.

We are in a time of denial. The “citizen mass” has not seen really hard times for over 50 years.
Those born after 1960 for the most part have been groomed in an atmosphere of abundance. Hardship today is doing without your ipod or shriek your cell phone.

It does not take rocket science to realize that the “rhetoric” that Obama spieled to the public no matter how well intended or not is a crock.

Gerald Celente, CEO of Trends Research Institute, has an uncanny ability to predict future events with a high degree of precision. He has appeared on numerous major news shows to include CNN and Fox News. Mr. Celente is not considered a fruitcake! His predictions have proven themselves on numerous occasions and he is well accepted by the Main Stream Media. His view of the next few years is chilling. Celente predicts that we will suffer a depression of a magnitude, which is worse than the Great Depression of the 1930’s and that we should expect to see tax rebellions and possibly a popular revolution against the government. He recently updated his prediction by stating “that America will see riots similar to those currently ongoing in Greece and that the cause will be a hyper-inflationary depression, leading to the inevitable use of troops and mercenaries to deal with the crisis as Americans are incarcerated in internment camps.”

USA To Owe More Than All of Us Own

December 18, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 21:50 PM

According to recent calculations by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation (PGPF), the sum of America’s debts and other financial commitments is about to exceed the collective net worth of its citizens. That means that for the first time in our history, we’ll owe more money than all of us have combined.

What’s responsible for this unprecedented shift? Growth in the government’s unfunded promises for social insurance programs such as Medicare, combined with a drop in Americans’ net worth, due mainly to lower home equity values.

PGPF’s calculations are based on the new consolidated federal financial statements as of September 30, 2008, which notably, do not reflect the additional toll taken by more recent market declines, bailout packages, and record October and November deficits.

But there’s hope yet. Since its launch this year, the Foundation has invested nearly $11 million in grants to raise awareness of, and seek solutions to the nation’s fiscal challenges. As Americans say goodbye to 2008, and look towards the new year, PGPF will continue to work with its extraordinary grantee partners as they focus on a variety of timely initiatives to help put our nation back on a fiscally prudent and sustainable path.

I have been watching this Franken situation since election day.
Today I stumbled onto an article by Ann Coulter.

She is caustic no doubt about it. Funny certainly! Rabidly hated by the left who generally have no comeback other than name calling. All of this as she blows them off and laughs all the way to the bank. Apparently her books are evenly read by both sides of the political isle.
Clearly she is not “politically correct” which gives her “kudos” in my book. So I just dashed out to order an autographed copy of her latest “Guilty” … I trust it will not be dull or disappointing.

It’s bad enough that the Republican Party can’t prevent Democrats from voting in its primaries and saddling us with the New York Times’ favorite Republican as our presidential nominee. If the Republican Party can’t protect an election won by the incumbent U.S. senator in Minnesota, there is no point in donating to the Republican Party.

The day after the November election, Republican Sen. Norm Coleman had won his re-election to the U.S. Senate, beating challenger Al Franken by 725 votes.

Then one heavily Democratic town miraculously discovered 100 missing ballots. And, in another marvel, they were all for Al Franken! It was like a completely evil version of a Christmas miracle.

As strange as it was that all 100 post-election, “discovered” ballots would be for one candidate, it was even stranger that the official time stamp for the miracle ballots printed out by the voting machine on the miracle ballots showed that the votes had been cast on Nov. 2 – two days before the election.

AOL another HOT SEAT poll !

December 17, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 16:35 PM

Then there is the little question of corruption going on in IL.
Who thinks what about President Elects participation in that scandal.

The arguments from the left are actually quite funny.
Like: the FBI said Obama ABSOLUTELY had nothing to do with any of this.
I guess now we need to define absolutely like we did “IT”.

Clearly he had some involvement in it we just do not know what yet.
Perhaps there was nothing sinister perhaps there was.

I guess anyone looking at this from a Clinical Thinking perspective would recognize that the closed lip tactics that is characteristic of Obama certainly does him no good.

The “Clinical Thinking” of the USA are beginning to wonder what is Obama hiding and why?

AOL HOT SEAT !

Posted by clinicalthinker @ 16:09 PM

There has been a lot of flap about the citizenship of Barack Obama.
Is he or isn’t he … has the nation been scammed again or not?
Fact is we simply do not know.

What we do know is the MSM has miserably dropped the ball on this.
For those that I have talked with do not even have a clue there is a question.
A vast majority do not know the difference between a citizen and a “natural born citizen”.
Those that begin to understand are NOW concerned that Obama is not being forthcoming with his records.
A smaller fringe does not care if he is or is not simply because they love the guy no matter what.

Do I find this a problem?
You bet and you should find it a problem too.

Why?
Because for whatever reason we have a President Elect who thinks he is above following the law.

Well apparently main stream is beginning to wake up.

AOL has been running a poll.
The question is:
Do you think there is any merit to the controversy surrounding Barack Obama’s citizenship?
51% say yes
43% say no
6% do not know

The interesting thing is where and who thinks what.
IL, NY, VT, RI, CT, DE, MD and DC all think no.

If you want to join into the little poll? Here ya go.

60 Minutes Correspondent Andy Rooney (CBS)

For all those ladies over 40 (for those under 40, its okay, you’ll achieve this status soon enough).

In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney thinks about women over 40:

60 Minutes Correspondent Andy Rooney (CBS)

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:

A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, ‘What are you thinking?’ She doesn’t care what you think. If a woman over 40 doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it’s usually more interesting. Women over 40 are dignified.

They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won’t hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it. Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved.

They know what it’s like to be unappreciated. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40.

Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthr ight and honest. They’ll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don’t ever have to wonder where you stand with her.

Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons.
Unfortunately, it’s not reciprocal.

For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress.

Ladies, I apologize.

For all those men who say, ‘Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?’, here’s an update for you.

Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage.
Why?
Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

Prominent neoconservative: 4,000 Americans ‘had to die’
David Edwards and Diane Sweet

Headline Dec. 17,2008 at rawstory.com

“Four thousand American troops “had to die” in Iraq, even if the United States knew Iraq didn’t have weapons of mass destruction, a prominent neoconservative said in a shocking interview on MSNBC Tuesday evening.

Vice President Dick Cheney told ABC News earlier this week that the U.S. would have invaded Iraq regardless of whether or not they had weapons of mass destruction.”

Hindsight is 20/20.

Fact: Today in Iraq a Journalist can pelt the President of the USA and not be beheaded.

I have to wonder if the people of the USA understood Hussain had biological weapons that where being readied to use here in America would their viewpoint on the war be altered.

What Chaney said:

Hardball:

Bush shoe-thrower ‘too injured’ to appear in court?
So says his brother.

True or not true … there seem to be conflicting stories.

The moral being … lucky he still has a head.

I have to wonder if there would be more outrage had tomatoes and eggs been lobbed a Obama?

Somehow I think we would have a resounding YES to that.

In the five weeks since Election Day, Obama’s once-cohesive Web presence has fragmented into a jumble of sometimes disparate-feeling fundraising pitches, YouTube videos and calls for activism spread across three websites.

Some are complaining they are tired of the Spam.

Chicago Scandal Humor

December 16, 2008
Posted by MindsEye @ 13:23 PM

While researching a news story about the TARP executive compensation rules and restrictions, I wondered to this site and found the following humorous take on the “BAD BOY BLAGO” corruption scandal. Enjoy! and stay tuned for the latest on the word “AUCTION” as it relates to the SEO’s (senior executive officials) compensation for all the Wall Street Artful Dodgers written into the legislation for the TARP, which is  directed by Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Paulson.

Blagogate? Chiblago? Hairnet?

Slate readers name the Blagojevich scandal.

Last week, we solicited nominations for a Rod Blagojevich scandal-naming contest. The results are in, and suggestions fall into a few distinct categories:

  • The ever-popular “-gate” suffix. Readers suggested “Blagogate,” “Blagojegate,” and, for those who suspect we don’t know the full extent of the bribery, “Blo-gate.” “BidderGate” is smart but risks confusion with the “guns and religion” fuss. Sadly, these and all other “-gates” were automatically eliminated. Per order of the National Political Scandal Nomenclature Task Force, the suffix has been retired.
  • Random word merging. Chicagovich” is a little clunky. “Illiseat” is clever, but maybe too much so. “Chiblago” is oddly inspired but seems better suited to the Broadway musical about the scandal than the scandal itself.
  • Curse words. Bleepgate” was a popular one and almost caused a reconsideration of the rule against -gates. Variations include “Motherbleepergate” and “(expletive deleted)gate“—a mouthful that would give us typists carpal tunnel.
  • Finalists:

Honorable mentions: Blagerloo” captures the dramatic finality of it all. “Blaghorea” doubles as a commentary on the commentary. “Blago-smear” goes out to all the Blagojevich sympathizers in the house. And “Hairnet” immortalizes the only thing people will remember about the governor a decade from now: his pompadour.

Second runner-up: Pay-Rod.” Good merge of form and function. Doesn’t require prior knowledge other than a passing familiarity with the New York Yankees.

  • First runner-up: “Coiffuror.” A tribute to the man who has nothing to hide except, as Jon Stewart noted, “whatever is written on his forehead.” (Context warning: Also sounds like a Frenchman’s response to an inaudible verbal request from Hitler.)

And the winner is … “Blagola.” Payola is synonymous with pay-to-play radio deals. Blagojevich is synonymous with pay-to-play Senate seat deals. Spread the word! (Submitted by William C. Spruiell)

The Washington Freak Show Hall of Shame

December 15, 2008

Top Washington Freaks Make The Excrement List

We have had many freaks in and out of Washington DC throughout the centuries. In the past the press has covered up for them very well. We all know JFK was a sex and drug addict but during his administration none of this information about the ten prescription medications for war injuries or his multiple affairs was ever reported by the press. So there is limited information out there about past
scandals such as Eleanor Roosevelt and her alleged lesbian encounters. Sad, scandal is always entertaining and brings these elitist snobs down to the everyday mans level. We all chuckle and revel at the same time.

From the information we have what are the most freakish people too ever grace the hallowed halls of the United States Congress, US Senate and Presidency? Here is my take but by no means is this absolute.

10. Wilber Mills from Arkansas. This dates me but I was fascinated as a youth as to how the ever perfect congressman could get involved with some HOT stripper from Argentina. Annabelle Battistella, better known as Fanne Foxe was married for god’s sake! Every male 14 year old kid was totally enthralled at this scandal. Should we higgledy-piggledy old geezers and feminazi bra burners who take a dim view of such affairs of the heart. Mr. Hart got the big thumbs down at the convention even though he was leading in delagates. I hope the trade off was worth it.

9. Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings his slave at the time seemed to be doing the horizontal tango in secret for quite a few years. DNA test in 1998 proved Thomas (or one of his relatives) was fathering children with Sally. Who would have thought it? The master picking out the best looking slave for a little extracurricular activity. No you don’t say!

8. Grover Cleveland wins his election despite opponents making an issue of his illegitimate child with chants of “Ma, ma, where’s my pa? / Gone to the White House, ha, ha, ha.” Must have been a big deal back in the day. Must not have been that big of a deal because he won two nonconsecutive terms at the height of the Victorian era. 1885-1889 and 1893 to 1897. Even in the most socially repressive eras where there is a will theres a way. Something to keep in mind as the messiah will soon be our president. Yes we can!

7. Wayne L. Hayes, from Ohio Chairman of the House Administration Committee, resigned after a scandal broke involving his giving a raise to his mistress, Secretary Elizabeth Ray. She later told reporters “I can’t type. I can’t file. I can’t even answer the phone.” Cool way to use the power of the government. Another reason I read Time Magazine in the 70’s. That babe was smoking HOT! We forgive you Wayne. You set the standard and the standard was high.

6. The Miami Herald reported on a jaunt20between Colorado senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart and a 29-year-old Miami model named Donna Rice on a yacht called Monkey Business in the Caribbean resort of Bimini. Of course this revelation came about as Mr. Hart was winning the presidential primaries and delegate count with eventual nominee Walter Mondale. Unfortunately for Mr. Hart democrats have super delegates. And super delegates tend to be higgledy-piggledy old geezers and feminazi bra burners who take a dim view of such affairs of the heart. Mr. Hart got the big thumbs down at the convention even though he was leading in delagates. I hope the trade off was worth it.

5. Senator Bob Packwood of Oregon apologizes after 10 women accuse him of sexual harassment and later resigns after the ethics committee found him guilty of sexual misconduct. Talk about a pattern! This guy is a textbook example of what a sexual predator is. Well besides Bill. Put his picture as the poster boy for sexual harassment. Old ugly white guy with power desperate to have sex with any female dumb enough to submit. Yea that’s Bob Packwood. I bet when he was a kid he coined the phrase “if it’s old enough to bleed it’s old enough to breed.”

4. Sexual emails and instant messages between Congressman Mark Foley from, I am ashamed to admit it, Florida, and congressional pages surface just before the November 2006 midterm election. Hey Mark you’re a old disgusting man. Do you think a 16 year old would be interested in sex with you? Really? Creep.

3. Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho pleads guilty to disorderly conduct in a men’s room and a police officer testifies he was soliciting sex. Wow Larry we really didn’t know you were gay. Really! But hey dude drag your state and party down with you. Why not? It’s all about the life style and a paycheck right? Nothing like getting a bj while the wife is at the house with the Mormon ladies right? Another creep.

2. News of President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky comes to light through a sexual-harassment suit against him by Paula Jones. Bill, dude, there are two things you should have done. First admit the affair. Second…, PLEASE dude you are (were) the President. The President for christ sakes! I was saddened not so much that you were having an affair but you choose Monica Lewinsky. Your better than that! Does the name Fanny Foxe ring a bell? Elizabeth Ray? Dude I saw you at Valencia Community College in 1996. You are so much better. To say I was disapointed in your choice of women would be the understatement of the decade. I was EXTREMELY disappointed when Monica’s picture was released to the press. Come on Bill! Do me a favor. Authorize a release of a scandal with one of your current babes. Make me proud. I know you have it in you. Show the world Monica was just a fluke. Redeem yourself Bill!

1. David Vitter of Louisiana is reported to be on the phone records of a Washington madam. Then the scum holds a press conference with his beautiful wife at his side and cries like a wimp. What a total scum. Tell your wife to stay home next time. You and Spitzer are tied for number one because of your despicable practice of having your wives next to you during your little Exposé to the world of your indiscretions. Ugh that was just GROSS! Disappear dude and reappear in the 22nd century. You should be publicly spit upon till you get completely covered in saliva. You getting my drift?

I feel bad for some of the ladies behind these men but not all. Vitter and New York Governor Eliot Spitzer both have beautiful wives and children involved in these torrid scandals. If I was married to either one of these women I would thank my lucky stars everyday I was with them. Frankly its gut wrenching to watch these news conferences with these creepy men and their beautiful wives at there side spilling their indiscretions to the media. I hope in the future these men (and women if the case arises) will have the decency to tell their wives (or husbands) to stay home for these horrid spectacles. I have no sympathy for these jerks. My sympathy is for the wives who suffer in silence at the betrayal and public humiliation they have suffered through no fault of their own.

As for Hillary there was a pattern. The time for tears was back in 1988. That time came and went. She made a choice agree or disagree. I hope it works out well for her. For all her faults she didn’t deserve to be treated like she was, either from Bill or her father. I hope the marriage last till death. She earns respect points but also needs to be reminded on a daily basis all men are not like Bill or her father.

As for Wilber Mills and Wayne Hayes I don’t know if I should thank them or condemn them. Certainly they peeked my interest in politics back in the day. Those scandals made reading Time Magazine so much more enjoyable and fascinating. It was a needed break from Emily Post and Watergate. A peek into the underside of humanity. All us teenagers at the time secretly cheered and wished we were in your place. Now that we are older, we cherish the brief moments we have with our families and children. We question your motivations and wonder how you could lose sight of what is really important in your declining years. We all get old and die. All that really matters is our children and family. You lost sight of that in your pursuit of self satisfaction and immortality. The glitter has faded and so has the memories of your exploits.

Barney Frank and others who had their positions of trust and power compromised were intentionally left out of the list. They are freaks but when some jerk cost you $150,000 on your 401K because of his desire for high quality sex with CEO’s it’s not that funny. Hopefully Frank will get his just rewards soon. CBS putting on a fluff peice on 60 minutes will not rehabiltate Frank.

For those “human rights advocates” as well as the “anti-war protestors” it should be noted that the war has produced some progress in Iraq. Under Saddam Hussain this journalist would have been quickly hauled to the woodshed and beheaded. Could the moral of the story be “the death penalty” works. It either stops the problem or disposes of it.

Obama’s Draft Registration Raises SERIOUS Legal Questions

December 13, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 23:27 PM

Oh my gosh does this never end?

Every day we wake up to some new junk being foisted our way about this President Elect.

Piece by Debbie Schlussel:

Did President-elect Barack Hussein Obama commit a federal crime in September of this year? Or did he never actually register and, instead, did friends of his in the Chicago federal records center, which maintains the official copy of his alleged Selective Service registration commit the crime for him?

It’s either one or the other, as indicated by the release of Barack Obama’s official Selective Service registration for the draft. A friend of mine, who is a retired federal agent, spent almost a year trying to obtain this document through a Freedom of Information Act request, and, after much stonewalling, finally received it and released it to me.

But the release of Obama’s draft registration and an accompanying document, posted below, raises more questions than it answers. And it shows many signs of fraud, not to mention putting the lie to Obama’s claim

The official campaign for President may be over. But Barack Obama’s Selective Service registration card and accompanying documents show that questions about him are not only NOT over, but if the signature on the document is in fact his, our next Commander-in-Chief may have committed a federal crime in 2008, well within the statute of limitations on the matter. If it is not his, then it’s proof positive that our next Commander-in-Chief never registered with the Selective Service as required by law. By law, he was required to register and was legally able to do so until the age of 26.

But the Selective Service System registration (”SSS Form 1“) and accompanying computer print-out (”SSS Print-out), below, released by the Selective Service show the following oddities and irregularities, all of which indicate the document was created in 2008 and backdated:

* Document Location Number Indicates Obama Selective Service Form was Created in 2008

First, there is the Document Location Number (DLN) on the form. In the upper right hand corner of the Selective Service form SSS Form 1, there is the standard Bates-stamped DLN, in this case “0897080632,” which I’ve labeled as “A” on both the SSS Form and the computer printout document. On the form, it reflects a 2008 creation.

As the retired federal agent notes:

Having worked for the Federal Government for several decades, I know that the standardization of DLNs have the first two digits of the DLN representing the year of issue. That would mean that this DLN was issued in 2008. The DLN on the computer screen printout is the exact same number, except the 0 and 8 have changed positions making it a 1980 DLN number. And 1980 is the year Senator/President Elect Obama is said to have timely registered. So, why does the machine-stamped DLN reflect this year (2008) and the DLN in the database (which was manually input) reflect a “corrected” DLN year of 1980? Were all the DLNs issued in 1980 erroneously marked with a 2008 DLN year or does the Selective Service use a different DLN system then the rest of the Federal Government? Or was the SSS Form 1 actually processed in 2008 and not 1980?

It’s quite a “coincidence” . . . that is, if you believe in coincidences, especially in this case.

Far more likely is that someone made up a fake Selective Service registration to cover Obama’s lack of having done so, and that the person stamping the form forgot (or was unable to) change the year to “80″ instead of the current “80″. They either forgot to fake the DLN number or couldn’t do so.

And guess where the Selective Service registrations are marked and recorded? Lucky for Obama, it’s his native Chicago. From an article entitled, “Post Office Registration Process”, on the Selective Service website:

When a young man reaches 18 he can go to any of the 35,000 post offices nationwide to register with Selective Service. There he completes a simple registration card and mails it to the Selective Service System. This begins a multi-step process which results in the man’s registration.

Each week approximately 6,000 completed registration cards are sent to the Selective Service System’s Data Management System (DMC) near Chicago, Ill. At the DMC these cards are grouped into manageable quantities. Each card is then microfilmed and stamped with a sequential document locator number. The processed microfilm is reviewed to account for all documents and to ensure that the film quality is within strict standards. After microfilming, the cards are keyed and then verified by a different data transcriber.

The Document Locator Number (DLN) is an automatic function (Selective Service record-keeping, specifically the DLN is described on pages 7-8 of this Federal Register document), with the first two digits comprising the year, and it was not changed to “08″ in error. So if the form was filed and processed in 1980, how did it get a 2008 DLN?!

* Obama’s Selective Service Registration Form is Apparently 1990 Form Altered to Appear Like 1980 Form

On the SSS Form 1, in the lower left hand corner is the form number (SSS Form 1) and the month and year version of the form, labeled as “B”. On this particular Form 1, it clearly shows the month as “FEB” (February), and the year is either “80″ or “90″. The retired federal agent investigated further:

Magnification of the form both physically (with a 10x glass) or with different image software does not reflect a clear cut result of either a “80″ or a “90″.

But, checking the history of SSS Form 1 (see http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PRAViewICR?ref_nbr=198002-3240-001#), it’s apparent that in February 1980, the Selective Service agency withdrew a “Request for a new OMB control number” for SSS Form 1 (see also, here)–meaning the agency canceled its previous request for a new form, and one was never issued in “FEB 1980″.

Since under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1980, Pub. L. No. 96-511, 94 Stat. 2812 (Dec. 11, 1980), codified in part at Subchapter I of Chapter 35 of Title 44 a federal agency can not use a form not approved by OMB (Office of Management and Budget), it’s nearly impossible for Senator/President-Elect Obama’s SSS Form 1 to be dated “Feb 1980.” And since that makes it almost certainly dated “Feb 1990,” then how could Barack Obama sign it and the postal clerk stamp it almost ten (10) years before its issue?! Simply not possible.

The lower right hand corner reflects that the Obama SSS form 1 was approved by OMB with an approval number of 19??0002, labeled as “C”. The double question marks (??) reflect digits that are not completely clear.

* Barack Obama’s Signature is Dated After Postal Stamp Certifying His Signature

Barack H. Obama signed the SSS Form 1’s “Today’s date” as July 30, 1980, labeled “D”. But the Postal Stamp reflects the PREVIOUS day’s date of July 29, 1980, labeled “E”. Yes, Obama could have mistakenly written the wrong date, but it is rare and much more unlikely for someone to put a future date than a past date. (Also note how Barry made such a “cute” peace sign with the “b” inside the “O” of his signature. Touching.)

* Postal Stamp is Incorrect, Discontinued in 1970

Then, there is the question as to whether the Postal Stamp is real. The “postmark” stamp–labeled “E”–is hard to read, but it is clear that at the bottom is “USPO” which stands typically for United States Post Office. However, current “postmark” validator, registry, or round dater stamps (item 570 per the Postal Operations Manual) shows “USPS” for United States Postal Service. The change from Post Office to Postal Service occurred on August 12, 1970, when President Nixon signed into law the most comprehensive postal legislation since the founding of the Republic–Public Law 91-375. The new Postal Service officially began operations on July 1, 1971.

Why was an old, obsolete postmark round dater stamp used almost ten (10) years after the fact to validate a legal document . . . that just happened to be Barack Obama’s suspicious Selective Service registration form?

* Form Shows Barack Obama didn’t have ID

The SSS Form 1 states “NO ID”, labeled “F”. Since that’s the case, then how did the Hawaiian postal clerk know that the submitter was really Barack H. Obama, who may have been on summer break from attending Occidental College in California. How would they determine whether the registrant was truly registering and not a relative, friend, or other imposter?

* The Selective Service Data Mgt. Center Stonewalled for Almost a Year on Obama Registration, Until Right Before the Election.

The retired federal agent who FOIA’d Barack Obama’s Selective Service Registration Form notes:

Early this year, when I first started questioning whether Obama registered I was told:

Sir: There may be an error in his file or many other reasons why his registration cannot be confirmed on-line. However, I did confirm with our Data Management Center that he is, indeed, registered with the Selective Service System, in compliance with Federal law.

Sincerely,

Janice L. Hughes/SSS

Then, they suddenly found the record on September 9, 2008 (prior to my October 13, 2008 request), and stated that his record was filed on September 4, 1980. Did they temporarily change the date on the computer database?

On the previous FOIA response, they stated that it was filed on September 4, 1980. In my second request I mentioned that Obama could not have filed it in Hawaii on September 4, 1980 as he was attending Occidental College in California, the classes of which commenced August 24, 1980.

* Other Questions: Missing Selective Service Number, FOIA Response Dated Prior to FOIA Request, Missing Printout Page

Where is Obama’s Selective Service number (61-1125539-1) on the card?

And the retired federal agent notes that the Selective Service Data Management Center prepared its response to his FOIA request prior to the request having been made:

The last transaction date is 09/04/80 [DS: labeled "G"], but the date of the printout is 09/09/08 [DS: labeled "H"]. My FOIA was dated October 13 so why did they prepare the printout BEFORE I submitted my FOIA? I gave them no “heads up” that I was sending it. In fact it was not mailed until late October–around the 25th.

Also, notice the printout was page 1 of 2 [DS: labeled "I"].

Hmmm . . . where is the other page, and what’s on it?

A lot of questions here. And a lot of huge hints that this government-released, official Barack Obama Selective Service registration was faked. Either he signed the fake backdated document, or someone else faked his signature and he never registered for the draft (and lied about it).

Which is it?

It’s incredible that our impending Commander-in-Chief either didn’t register for the draft or did so belatedly and fraudulently.

The documents indicate it’s one or the other.

*** UPDATE: Here’s another irregularity that points to fraud, as spotted by reader Joyce:

My husband printed the information provided on your web site regarding Barack Obama’s Selective Service registration discrepancies. I noticed that the DLN number in upper right corner (labeled “A”) has only ten (10) digits with the first two being 08 , but the DLN number shown on the computer screen printout has eleven (11) digits with the first two being 80. It clearly indicates that the “8″ was added at the beginning of the DLN number, in order to appear that it was issued in 1980 and wasn’t simply a reversal of the first two digits as the retired federal agent noted. This in itself appears questionable. I would think there is a standard number of digits in all DLN numbers.

**** UPDATE #2, 11/14/08: Retired Federal Agent Source Reveals Himself:

The recently retired federal agent has requested that I disclose his identity so that there is no question as to the source of the information.
His name is Stephen Coffman. He retired last year from the position of the Resident Agent in Charge of Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Galveston, Texas office. He has over 32 years of government service and has held a Secret or higher security clearance for the majority of those years.

He filed the FOIA with Selective Service and has the original letter and the attachments. He first notified the Selective Service of his findings and they ignored the questions.

He can be reached via email at retirediceagent@sbcglobal.net.

UPDATE #3, 11/17/08: Some Obamapologists are claiming this is a fake and want to see evidence that retired agent Coffman actually got these documents from the Selective Service System Data Management Center. Below are scans of the letter and envelope that accompanied Barack Obama’s fraudulent registration for the draft (I’ve cropped the blank white space):

Taxes 101: The Laffer Curve

December 13, 2008
Posted by Economics9698 @ 15:20 PM

One of the things that drives me crazy is watching the tremendous amount of ignorance the public has about taxes. I have seen politicians, media, private foundations and my own relatives state as absolute fact things I know the be absolutely false. I try to explain in a rational manner what the truth is and it’s useless. People think “logically.” As one who has had years of math classes I and anyone else in that situation quickly gets burned and receives an “F” for thinking “logically.” It is best to pause and think about things a little more thoroughly.

And so it is in public life. We have so many examples of herd mentality. Herd mentality based on emotion. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were inspired by the feeling that all people should be given a chance at the American dream. Emotionally it really makes sense. Why not? Yes we can! But hundreds of thousands of defaulted mortgages later we all realize, even the most ardent supporter of Fannie and Freddie, that maybe more thought should have went into regulation and oversight.

And so it is with taxes. We now owe 10 trillion in debt. Hell, even I don’t know what that is. $40,000 per man, woman and child? Somewhere around there. And if you look at the direction of the bail outs and congress this total will soon reach $18 trillion. We got to $10 trillion with Republicans. Nancy Pelosi gives every indication that is nowhere near enough.

So if we all acknowledge the problem and want to pay the money back what is the best way to do it? The emotional knee jerk reaction is to raise taxes. Seems logical. Raise taxes and more money will come into the federal treasury. Right? Wrong.

Since classical economic theory back in the early part of the 20th century economist have always known about money circulation. What is referred to as velocity. The faster money goes through the economy the more money people make and the more taxes are collected. Since then the equations have gotten a lot more complex with partial differentials, regression analysis and other mathematics. The principals are the same. The faster the economic activity the more jobs, income and taxes.

So how do we get a faster economy? There has to be some tax rate that allows maximum tax collections right? Yes there is. Arthur Laffer took a simple business principal studied by millions of business

majors the world over. The maximum profit point or maximum revenue point. It the point where the price of your Chevy trucks makes you the most profit. Charge too much and you lose customers. Charge to little and you lose money. It’s not that complex. Disney does it for ticket prices. Walmart does it for their store pricing policies. All business does it. So why when Arthur Laffer does this same thing for government maximum revenues is he ridiculed for “trickle down,” “Voodoo” and other names too discredit his theory?

Because he discovered that the maximum revenue point for tax collections for a economy was about 27% to 30%. That would be federal, state and local taxes combined. He looked at all taxes because that is what we all pay. State income tax, sales, property, sewer, telephone, federal, social security, Medicaid, Medicare, gas, cable, the whole picture. And the picture wasn’t pretty. Currently we pay around 44% of our earnings in taxes. Now it’s easy to see why politicians react stridently against Laffer and his “trickle down” or supply side economics. We are taxed too much and it hurts our economy. It would be a similar reaction if a medical doctor walked into the village hospital and told the witch doctor his method of using leeches to bleed patients was causing infection and anemia. The witch doctor would not be very pleased to hear this news. Politicians don’t want to hear that taxes are too high. And so we get the disinformation and smears.

What is the best tax system? As a Libertarian I support the fair tax for several reasons. First a simple explanation of what the fair tax is. Skip ahead if you are familiar with it. The Fair Tax would eliminate all federal taxes. No payroll, social security, Medicaid, Medicare or corporate taxes. They would all be replaces with a 23% retail sales tax. No IRS, no April 15th, no corporate taxes. This alone would save billions in accounting and compliance cost. Billions that could be spend on more productive uses.

First a sales tax would shift taxes from income to spending. A very critical point for a nation 10 trillion in debt. If people saved they would pay no tax. If they spent they would be taxed. Guess which direction people would go? Savings and investment are more critical now than ever before. Soon our debt will exceed what we owed during the darkest days of WWII as a percentage of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Without dramatically increased domestic savings and investment we will be subject to the whims of foreign power that may or may not be friendly to our interest. What would happen if we get in an international dispute with China? China could tank our economy overnight that’s what would happen. Taxing spending instead of income is a no-brainer for the situation we are in today.

Second a sales tax would eliminate the IRS. Why pray tell does the government need to know what every worker makes? What business is it of theirs? Are we free men? Not in today’s society. Think about it. The government can investigate you for political beliefs or whatever they choose to and all they have to do is make a phone call to the IRS and they know what you are doing 2,080 hours of your life a year. Probe a little further and voilà, tax filing mistakes! Getting rid of the IRS would be the biggest transfer of power from the government to the people since the Declaration of Independence. Politicians cringe at the prospect of this.

Third no corporate taxes. Currently the corporate tax rate is 35%. Now think about it. Who pays that tax? If you ran a business and had to charge 35% for the government what would you do? Raise prices as much as possible. Lay off workers or buy less equipment. Pay fewer dividends or do less research and development. All pretty damaging to your company and to the overall economy. To put it simply corporate taxes are nothing more than additional taxes on you. You pay with lower wages because there is less demand for workers. You pay higher prices for products. You pay by receiving less dividend income for your savings and retirement. Another no-brainer. Get rid of all corporate taxes.

A couple of interesting observations about corporate taxes. First some big corporations like complex corporate tax systems and draconian accounting rules. Why? It keeps competitors occupied and discourages start up companies. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 should be called the No New Competitors ACT because no new company can afford all the compliance hassles of the Act. And when the complex accounting rules are in place where to the big corporations go to get relief? Why congress of course. Congress uses high tax rates and a complex accounting system as a way of getting donations from companies and industries looking for tax breaks and relief. The typical thought process of a bright financially orientated federal legislator is to raise taxes as high as possible and sell the tax breaks to the highest bidder. What is best for the people or new companies never enters their head.

The second observation I would like to point out is if there were no corporate taxes what would happen to all the lobbyist on K Street? 90% of them would pack up and go home. The only remaining lobbyist in Washington would be the ones trying to win government contracts. Anyone want restrictions on lobbyist? Why not get rid of them. Seems like the best solution. Adios Senor Corruption.

For more information please go to fairtax.org.

The second type of tax is the flat income tax. Just like the one Ronald Reagan had in 1986. It was great. It was great for about 2 weeks until the lobbyist started getting tax breaks and rewriting the tax code to its current 66,000 page bible-times-four thing. Does anyone understand it? Flat tax systems work when you keep the tax flat which will never happen in the United States. Russia has a 13% flat tax system. Good luck Russia keeping it that way. We wish you all the best. Something tells me in 10 years it may not be so flat anymore.

And finally we have our whatever you call it tax everything policies. All the levels of government
have taxes for everything. Very inefficient and very damaging to the economy. Anyone run a corporation lately? State taxes, workers compensation, federal taxes, forms, paperwork, accountants, and lawyers. Oh what fun and joy! Not. Makes me want to kick the dog and commit various other acts of violence. Get rid of the layers and layers of useless time consuming work and let business sell whatever it wants to sell. Wow! The economy would be on steroids. Unemployment would be 3% to 4%. The recession would end almost overnight.

In a perfect world all states would have a sales tax like we enjoy in Florida. This is very critical for Florida because we have such a huge “mail box” and billionaire economy. Essentially retires move her and earn low incomes mostly through pensions and social security. Yet a lot of these retires have amassed

substantial wealth through the years. A state income tax would fail to tax most of this wealth. But when Mrs. Retiree goes down to buy her new Lincoln she has to pay sales tax like everyone else. When Mr. Billionaire buys his new yacht he pays the sales tax. This is a tremendous benefit to Florida and has attracted workers to this state ever since I can remember. Generally but not always we have a lower unemployment rate than the rest of the country. Currently the loss of construction jobs has put Florida about even with the rest of the nation.

So when the politicians tell you we need to raise taxes they are either ignorant, stupid or devious jerks who have no compassion for their fellow men and women. Most likely the latter. Most of the idiots get the fisheries and FEMA committee assignments. The game plan is simple for these maniacal power hungry predators. Enslave the people with debt and taxes. Pass out tax breaks to the highest bidder. Get that account in the Grand Caymans. Live well and keep the peasants fighting for the scraps.

BLAGO PUBLIC OUTCRY INTENSIFIES

December 11, 2008
Posted by MindsEye @ 17:51 PM

Update from the AP on today’s ongoing outcry for “ousting” the Bad Boy Governor of Illinois.

CHICAGO – Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich kissed his wife, rode in his state SUV to the office and sat down at his desk Thursday in front of a bust of Lincoln and an American flag to portray “a return to normalcy.” It was anything but. An extraordinary drama built through the day in Chicago as the political establishment of Illinois and the nation lined up against him.

Blagojevich’s approval rating dropped to an all-time low of 8 percent, and friends and foes alike feared if they don’t act swiftly to get rid of him, he might commit some kind of political mischief.

“The governor is in office, and he needs to be removed from office,” Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn said. “It is an urgent matter. Illinois is in crisis.”

The governor showed no signs of buckling to growing demands that he quit or be removed after his arrest Tuesday on corruption charges alleging that he tried to sell President-elect Barack Obama’s Senate seat to the highest bidder.

While the governor was working — his spokesman would not say on exactly what — President-elect Obama told a news conference just a couple of blocks away that Blagojevich should go.

At the same time, Illinois lawmakers were organizing impeachment efforts, and the state attorney general said that if the governor were not impeached, she would seek a court order finding him unfit to serve.

Obama, speaking directly for the first time on the scandal that has distracted from his otherwise smooth transition, said he was “appalled” by the allegations.

“What I’m absolutely certain about is that our office had no involvement in any dealmaking around my Senate seat. That I’m absolutely certain of,” he said. “That would be a violation of everything that this campaign has been about. And that’s not how we do business.”

The governor spent the day at his wooden desk, reviewing budget issues and talking to his closest aides.

Blagojevich spokesman Lucio Guerrero described the governor’s mood as “upbeat” and “positive” and said “there’s a sense of trying to return to normalcy.” He said he knew of no decision about Blagojevich’s political future or what the governor might do with the Obama seat.

Blagojevich’s next move was the subject of great speculation in Illinois and around the country. Some observers wondered whether he might be seeking a deal with prosecutors to use the governor’s office as a bargaining chip, possibly agreeing to step down in exchange for leniency.

But there was also worry that the governor might still pick a senator.

His refusal to step down has struck some as odd given the fact that wiretaps portrayed him as bored with his job, saying he was “struggling financially” and did “not want to be governor for the next two years.”

But staying in office provides a financial benefit amid the turmoil: He continues to draw a $177,000-a-year salary.

Also Thursday, the criminal complaint that outlined the charges against Blagojevich yielded new details. The Associated Press learned that Senate Candidate 4 in the complaint is Illinois Deputy Gov. Louanner Peters. The source was not authorized to speak publicly about the complaint and spoke on condition of anonymity.

In the complaint, Blagojevich said he would put the deputy governor in the Senate before he gives the seat to another candidate and “don’t get anything.”

The decision to launch impeachment proceedings largely rests with House Speaker Michael Madigan, who, according to several House Democrats, faces a strong desire among his members for quick action. They said voters are demanding it, and lawmakers are transmitting that message to Madigan.

A poll taken since Blagojevich’s arrest shows 73 percent of those surveyed support impeachment, and 70 percent think he should resign.

Chicago-based Glengariff Group surveyed 600 Illinois residents by phone Tuesday and Wednesday, and the results showed Blagojevich’s approval rating at 8 percent. The margin of error was plus or minus 4 percent.

Four House Democrats sent a letter to their colleagues Thursday seeking support for a motion to impeach Blagojevich. The letter asks members to indicate whether they oppose the idea or support it, or even whether they want to co-sponsor the motion.

Democratic Rep. Jack Franks, one of the governor’s fiercest critics, said he hopes Madigan will soon make clear that the House will launch impeachment proceedings unless Blagojevich resigns.

“It would be music to the ear of everyone in this state,” Franks said.

Franks said he has gotten “a deluge” of calls from lawmakers wanting to be part of any impeachment committee.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, the daughter of the House speaker, threatened again Thursday to file a lawsuit asking the state Supreme Court to have Blagojevich declared unfit to hold office if he doesn’t resign soon or get impeached.

“Obviously right now, in the best of all possible worlds, the governor would do what’s right for the people of the state of Illinois. He would resign,” said Madigan, a longtime Blagojevich foe considering a run for governor in 2010.

But “at this point he appears to be staying put,” and Madigan wants a signal from lawmakers about whether they will move quickly on impeachment proceedings.

Legislative leaders planned a special session Monday to strip Blagojevich of his power to pick a new U.S. senator, putting the decision in the hands of Illinois voters instead.

The White House on Thursday said President George Bush finds Blagojevich’s alleged behavior “astounding.”

Quinn said the impeachment process should begin when the Legislature convenes. If lawmakers don’t take action, he would support Madigan going to the Supreme Court.

Quinn strongly criticized the possibility of a special election to fill Obama’s seat, saying it would take too long, leaving Illinois with just one senator in Washington for months. Quinn said he has not spoken to potential Senate appointees and doesn’t have a short list of candidates.

If he becomes governor, Quinn said his “first order of business” will be appointing a senator. He did not flatly rule out choosing a Republican, saying he would pick the most qualified candidate.

The Personal Sacrifice of Public Servants

December 11, 2008
Posted by MindsEye @ 16:52 PM

And then…

Over the last several days we have heard repeated comments about the PERSONAL SACRIFICES that PUBLIC SERVANTS endure while serving. While there are those who are away from their homes and families for extended times while in Washington or in their states capitols, it appears that the benefits far exceed the alleged personal sacrifices they make.

In fact, SIGN ME UP. Those who know me, know that I am great at making personal sacrifices and putting the interests of others before my own. That fact alone should qualify me for that political appointment that will be converted to a Senior Civil Servant position at the end of “the decider’s administration”.  I will then, always, and forever have the most paid vacation days, the best health care benefits, the most paid federal or state holidays, per Diem’s, job security during an economic Armageddon, and the freedom to perform  less than stellar job performance because I am forever secure in my Senior Civil Service position.

My future is bright, my financial security guaranteed. I can plan for the future, visualize my retirement and the second home that will be available through the “foreclosure” market. All of which was made possible while I was personally sacrificing as a political appointee and waiting to become a SENIOR CIVIL SERVANT.

I BEG YOU! Please allow me to make this personal sacrifice and become the much envied yet much maligned public servant. It would mean THE WORLD TO ME!

I bring this to your attention, because truth be known that many of these appointees, and civil servant employees would never make it in the private sector. Believe ME. THEY WOULD NOT. I have known many such “servants” and their less than stellar work ethic startles me. I have been honest with them and suggested that many of them and their associates would be fired during a probationary period for a variety of inadequacies if they were employed in the private sector. THEY LAUGH UPROARIOUSLY! (It might just be a defense mechanism)

My point in this while seemingly sarcastic, is a sad truth about some Public Servants.  Not ALL, but a prevailing number of them.

Administration Moves to Protect Key Appointees
Political Positions Shifted To Career Civil Service Jobs

By Juliet Eilperin and Carol D. Leonnig
Washington Post Staff Writers
Tuesday, November 18, 2008; A01

Just weeks before leaving office, the Interior Department’s top lawyer has shifted half a dozen key deputies — including two former political appointees who have been involved in controversial environmental decisions — into senior civil service posts.

The transfer of political appointees into permanent federal positions, called “burrowing” by career officials, creates security for those employees, and at least initially will deprive the incoming Obama administration of the chance to install its preferred appointees in some key jobs.

Similar efforts are taking place at other agencies. Two political hires at the Labor Department have already secured career posts there, and one at the Department of Housing and Urban Development is trying to make the switch.

Between March 1 and Nov. 3, according to the federal Office of Personnel Management, the Bush administration allowed 20 political appointees to become career civil servants. Six political appointees to the Senior Executive Service, the government’s most prestigious and highly paid employees, have received approval to take career jobs at the same level. Fourteen other political, or “Schedule C,” appointees have also been approved to take career jobs. One candidate was turned down by OPM and two were withdrawn by the submitting agency.

The personnel moves come as Bush administration officials are scrambling to cement in place policy and regulatory initiatives that touch on issues such as federal drinking-water standards, air quality at national parks, mountaintop mining and fisheries limits.

The practice of placing political appointees into permanent civil service posts before an administration ends is not new. In its last 12 months, the Clinton administration approved 47 such moves, including seven at the senior executive level. Federal employees with civil service status receive job protections that make it very difficult for managers to remove them.

Most of the personnel shifts have been done on a case-by-case basis, but Interior Solicitor David L. Bernhardt moved to place six deputies in senior agency positions with one stroke, including two who have repeatedly attracted controversy. Robert D. Comer, who was Rocky Mountain regional solicitor, was named to the civil service post of associate solicitor for mineral resources. Matthew McKeown, who served as deputy associate solicitor for mineral resources, will take Comer’s place in what is also a career post. Both had been converted from political appointees to civil service status.

In a report dated Oct. 13, 2004, Interior’s inspector general singled out Comer in criticizing a grazing agreement that the Bureau of Land Managementhad struck with a Wyoming rancher, saying Comer used “pressure and intimidation” to produce the settlement and pushed it through “with total disregard for the concerns raised by career field personnel.” McKeown — who as Idaho’s deputy attorney general had sued to overturn a Clinton administration rule barring road-building in certain national forests — has been criticized by environmentalists for promoting the cause of private property owners over the public interest on issues such as grazing and logging.

One career Interior official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity so as not to jeopardize his position, said McKeown will “have a huge impact on a broad swath of the West” in his new position, advising the Bureau of Land Management and the Fish and Wildlife Service on “all the programs they implement.” Comer, the official added, will help shape mining policy in his new assignment.

“It is an attempt by the outgoing administration to limit as much as possible [the incoming administration's] ability to put its policy imprint on the Department of Interior,” the official said.

In a Nov. 13 memo obtained by The Washington Post, Bernhardt wrote that he was reorganizing his division because the associate solicitors’ original status as political appointees undermined the division’s effectiveness.

“This has resulted in frequent turnover in those positions, often with an attendant loss in productivity and management continuity in these Divisions, despite the best efforts of the newly-appointed Associate Solicitors,” he wrote.

But environmental advocates, and some rank-and-file Interior officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of hurting their careers, said the reassignments represent the Bush administration’s effort to leave a lasting imprint on environmental policy.

“What’s clear is they could have done this during the eight years they were in office. Why are they doing it now?” said Robert Irvin, senior vice president for conservation programs at Defenders of Wildlife, an advocacy group. “It’s pretty obvious they’re trying to leave in place some of their loyal foot soldiers in their efforts to reduce environmental protection.”

In an interview yesterday, Bernhardt reiterated that he thinks the move is in the government’s long-term interest.

“I believe these management decisions will strengthen the professionalism of the Office of the Solicitor and result in greater service to the Department of the Interior,” he said. “However, the next solicitor and the department’s management team are free to walk a different path.”

One senior Interior official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters, said an incoming interior secretary or solicitor could create new political positions upon taking office and could shift Senior Executive Service officials to comparable jobs within a few months. As a general rule, career SES employees may be reassigned involuntarily within their current commuting area within 15 days, and beyond their commuting area within 60 days, but they retain their lucrative and permanent government posts. When a new agency head is appointed, he or she must wait 120 days before reassigning career SES officials.

Outside groups are trying to monitor these moves but are powerless to reverse them. Alex Bastani, a representative at the Labor Department for the American Federation of Government Employees, said it took months for that agency even to acknowledge that two of its Bush appointees, Carrie Snidar and Brad Mantel, had gotten civil service posts.

“They’re trying to burrow into these career jobs, and we’re very upset,” Bastani said. “Everyone should have an opportunity to apply for these positions. And certainly career people who don’t have partisan bent and have 10 or 15 years in their respective fields should have a shot at these positions.”

Kerry Weems, acting chief of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said he discourages political staff from moving into career slots. “It typically doesn’t work out for either party,” he said. Even though Weems is a career staffer, he expects to leave the administration when the Obama team takes over.

Alphonso Jackson, who was HUD secretary under President Bush, warned his political appointees not to try to burrow in when the administration changed. But one of his regional directors objected to that flat-out prohibition, according to union leaders at HUD, and has told his colleagues that he has been promised first crack at a career position.

Staff writers Ceci Connolly and Spencer S. Hsu contributed to this report.

RANT TO THE SPINNERS

December 11, 2008
Posted by MindsEye @ 14:01 PM

It has been several interesting days, since Political Bad Boy Blagojevich was arrested for a “political crime spree” that rendered several politicians shocked and awed.   Well!  You say,”shocked and awed”.

Really?

Isn’t that a gross exagerration of what you really felt.

Really?

Aren’t you seriously overstating your reaction?

How could those of us witnessing this, not suffer any of those shocking and compelling reactions?

Those of us who witnessed this via cable news, and are not elected officials, nor are we Federal Prosecutors, thought “so what’s new”?  Why did we not have any of those reactions?   Because it is what we expect. On a regular and ongoing basis. Again and Again and Again.

How would Watergate rate against this? (Suggested by Gov. Blago on Monday, December 8, during an appearance at Republic Window & Door during an employee protest regarding their job loss).

Blago, I suggest you ask former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan or former Special Counsel to the Nixon Administration John W. Dean. They can answer that question for you.

This “stuck as Governor” Bad Boy on a political crime spree makes our days. He inspires us to further our grassroots campaign to end the culture of corruption that is so pervasive in government. When we don’t think we can stand another political spin from the spinners, another ill gotten bailout, another self aggrandizing political statement,  his arrogance, narcissism, and what his co-horts call delusional political reality rears its’ ugly head and the media goes crazy all over again. We thank you!

The spinners start spinning, my head starts spinning, the phones start ringing, the dog barks, and anyone who has ever spoken to this tough guy ”stuck Governor” runs for cover as if they were walking through Baghdad and Blackwater was on patrol.

There is a deafening silence until some artful dodger AKA a high ranking Illinois State official, Senate or House leader throws the media a bone with an artfully prepared statement saying nothing other than that they are  shocked and awed. The tone is set for what should and should not be said, while any and all in the sphere of influence of this man are making and releasing their politically correct and partisan statements. LET’S END THE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND CALL A  SPADE A SPADE. The constituents of Illinois need to immediately call for his resignation AND the Illinois General Assembly must rigorously begin impeachment proceedings. Illinois State Attorney General Lisa Madigan is also preparing to go the the Illinois Supreme Court and have him declared unfit to serve.

The US Senate Democratic Caucus (50 members)  issued the following letter: (from swamppolitics.com)

December 10, 2008

Dear Governor Blagojevich:

We write to insist that you step down as Governor of Illinois and under no circumstance make an appointment to fill the vacant Illinois Senate seat.

In light of your arrest yesterday on alleged federal corruption charges related to that Senate seat, any appointment by you would raise serious questions.

It is within the authority of the Illinois legislature to remove your power to make this appointment by providing for a special election. But a decision by you to resign or to step aside under Article V of the Illinois Constitution would be the most expeditious way for a new Senator to be chosen and seated in a manner that would earn the confidence of the people of Illinois and all Americans. We consider it imperative that a new senator be seated as soon as possible so that Illinois is fully represented in the Senate as the important work of the 111th Congress moves forward.

Please understand that should you decide to ignore the request of the Senate Democratic Caucus and make an appointment we would be forced to exercise our Constitutional authority under Article I, Section 5, to determine whether such a person should be seated.

We do not prejudge the outcome of the criminal charges against you or question your constitutional right to contest those charges. But for the good of the Senate and our nation, we implore you to refrain from making an appointment to the Senate.

Sincerely,

Earlier in the day, the senior senator from Illinois, Richard Durbin, sent a letter to Blagojevich asking him to step down. It was a reversal for Durbin, who just Tuesday said that such calls were premature, and that Blagojevich deserved a full and fair trial on corruption charges. Although even then, he said that the state would be better off with a new chief executive.

Here is that text of that letter.

Dear Governor Blagojevich:

I am writing to ask you to step down as Governor of Illinois. Beyond guilt or innocence, the charges against you raise serious questions about your ability to carry out your duties as chief executive of our state.

I also ask you not to appoint the next United States Senator from Illinois. Because of the nature of the charges against you, no matter whom you were to select, that individual would be under a cloud of suspicion. That would not serve our state, our nation, or the United States Senate.

Legislative efforts to impeach you or remove your ability to appoint the replacement for the United States Senate have been initiated but those options could take some time accomplish. I urge you to choose the path that will be the most beneficial for the people of Illinois and the nation, and resign immediately.

At this moment, I am the only United State Senator from Illinois and within weeks we will begin the next Congress facing unprecedented challenges. Illinois should not be underrepresented in the Senate during this critical time in our history.

I urge you to search your heart and summon the strength to put your state and your nation above any personal considerations.

Sincerely,

Richard J. Durbin

The two errors in Senator Durbin’s request is that first there must be an assumption that he has a pumping heart, and clearly he has no conscience to make a selfless consideration for his state and nation. The appeal was well intended, but stay tuned. I am certain that the Honorable Senator Durbin will yet again have another take on this in a few days as the CLIMATE changes. There must be some sunshine out there. Clearly Gov. Blago thought so on Monday when he invited the world to “tape” his calls both openly and notoriously.

LONG TERM FORCAST: TORNADIC

Public outcry toward Bad Boy Blago and his media friendly wife Lady Macbeth (a media reference) heightens while as public servants they continue to count their personal sacrifices.

No board to be appointed to.

No Secretarial appointment in the new Administration.

No Warren Buffet Foundation to lead.

No SEIU Union to defraud.

Clearly A GREAT PERSONAL TRADEGY at the very least.

I heard one political strategist suggest that if this had been a republican that was arrested, that the Federal Prosecutor and the media would be making a point of emphasizing his party affiliation. Geez, I didn’t think  corruption had a party. I thought it was a state of political being. A characterization. A REALITY, if you will Mr. Spinner. I don’t THINK Patrick Fitzgerald cares about PARTY affiliation when he investigates. Are you suggesting that he does? Some of us don’t give a hoot about what party it is, we care that it happens. REPEATEDLY!!!!

A self serving vote, a tainted dollar, a sold vote, an illegal contribution. It happens! REPEATEDLY!!!

Please all you strategists, review your banter and edit your political “wittisisms” before going on air and exposing us to this idiocy. You look a fool! It irritates CLINICAL THINKERS. We are AWED that you have left personal integrity and decency out of your rhetoric. That you will SPIN THE TRUTH to further your political agenda!  Alas! I am shocked and awed.

I can deal with the crime spree, I can’t deal with the nonsense by some spinners.

To bailout or not to bailout is the question.

A RANT:

UPDATE: Dec. 15, 2008

UPDATE: Dec. 11, 2008
Since I started this rant the bailout has passed the house. It sucks! We better hope and pray the Senate has more common sense and sends EVERYONE back to the drawing board or we will be revisiting this issue early next year.

My first inclination was an emphatic NO NO NO!

I have a billion questions about this whole situation … I will not list them here since there certainly is not the time, space or bandwidth to cover it all.

After putting a bit of “Clinical Thought” to it all I have decided it is a must on some level.
There is no point in the “blame game” we need to embrace the “fix game”. I looking over the offered solutions and those promoting them it crossed my mind NOT MANY offering solutions have ever run a business.

Come to think of it most would probably fall flat on their faces in the real business world. So they are offering a business solution?
HOW SMART IS THAT?
Let me answer that for you … NOT VERY.

Add to all of that who they are “sleeping with” (lobbyist “payoff” “kickback” “campaign donations”) and we have further skewed solutions.
How about we kick “Politically Correct” aside and call a spade a spade.
That whole can of worms is another article by someone wiser than I coming soon.

Handing over billions with a CAR CZAR to oversee?
Who the heck would want that job?
It will be most interesting to see who has the real wherewithal and guts to step up to that plate.

Anyway so far what I have seen appears to be pouring TAX PAYER MONEY down a rat hole.

What is expected of this program?
Is this a warning shot across the bough of all auto workers?
Get prepared to lose your jobs in 6 mos.?

AUTO MAKERS:

Here are the down and dirty facts … you think you can’t survive on what you make today?
Well how well are you going to survive on zilch?
If you think you can count on the government as a safety net you are sadly mistaken.
If you think you can count on your union you are equally sadly mistaken … both ARE/HAVE/WILL miserably fail you.
Keep in mind YOU ARE BOSS OF THE UNION not vice versa … make your voices heard before you are in some unemployment line while your company/union bosses are sipping mojitos in Dubai.

You want to know why the Banks got bailed out with few questions asked?
The bailers saw their own asses slipping into the great abyss.
Its called VESTED INTEREST!
NOW “Barney Baby”, “Pelosi the Shrew” Dodd and a whole slew of others are safe and can make an example.
YOU AUTO MAKERS ARE IT!

I just ran into the latest Republican Solution (below).
It would be refreshing if both sides of the isle FOR ONCE drop partisanship and hammer out a solution to help get an ICONIC industry back on its feet.

There are no better workers in the world than here in the USA there are just cheaper workers elsewhere. For those who say these American companies can not compete? The naysayers ARE DAFFED!
Perhaps a level playing field would help.

WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH), Republican Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), Conference Chairman Mike Pence (R-IN), and other House GOP leaders today put forth an alternative to the $15 billion taxpayer-funded auto bailout proposed by House Democratic leaders.

The American Automotive Reorganization and Recovery Plan

Working families throughout our country are struggling to pay their bills and facing economic anxieties not seen in America for generations. Employers are finding themselves torn between staying in business and laying off people over the holidays. Nowhere are these challenges more acute than in states that are heavily dependent on auto manufacturing. It is essential that Washington address these challenges not through taxpayer-funded bailouts that prolong working families’ pain and put taxpayers’ money at risk, but by fixing problems and removing barriers that make it harder for working families to prosper.

Washington has failed this basic test with respect to the American auto industry. Republicans want to make certain that in its response to the resulting crisis, Washington does not fail American taxpayers as well. A responsible plan should do two things: it should protect taxpayers, and it should help auto workers and their families by allowing the Big Three to become competitive again. The Democrats’ plan does neither. Congress should not be stampeded into rubber-stamping a plan that guarantees failure at the taxpayers’ expense.

The Democratic Bailout proposal has three fundamental flaws:

  • The only thing crazier than trusting the same management and union officials who got the Big Three into this mess to get them out is trusting a bunch of Washington politicians and bureaucrats – the very same people who ran up a $455 billion deficit last year. American auto workers and their families deserve better.
  • If no private investors believe the Big Three restructuring plans are realistic enough to support with their own money, why should we put up taxpayer money? American taxpayers deserve better.
  • The Big Three restructuring plan and the Democratic proposal lack accountability. There is no guarantee that once they get taxpayer money the restructuring they promise will occur. Once the taxpayers prop them up once, there will be a big incentive to keep bailing them out – keeping the industry dependent on government aid and further denying American auto workers the security of a viable industry that is back on its feet and ready to compete. American auto workers and their families deserve better.

What We Should Be Doing: The American Automotive Reorganization and Recovery Plan

Hard Benchmarks:

On December 2, the Big Three presented to Congress their plans for restructuring. While the plans included laudable goals, too few details were provided as to how the companies will actually achieve the restructuring and the savings they have promised. In some instances new agreements to achieve the savings would not be entered into for months or perhaps years.

The Big Three must lock in the restructuring they have promised in a matter of weeks, not months or years. Congress should instead establish firm benchmarks and a tight timeline for

restructuring. Such benchmarks will include for example requiring that by March 31, 2009 each company should reach agreement whereby:

  • The companies’ creditors agree to a framework to reduce each company’s indebtedness by at least 1/3.
  • The UAW holds to concessions already made and further:

o Concedes the elimination of Supplemental Unemployment Benefits;
o Concedes elimination of the Jobs Bank Program;
o Agrees to either reduce company retiree health care obligations or otherwise convert a portion of such obligations into equity; and
o Agrees to reduce wages and benefits to the levels paid by non-Big Three manufacturers.

A Process for Reaching Expedited Agreement, Instead of Nationalizing America’s Auto Companies

Because of the many legal and contractual hurdles to restructuring, the companies are urged to accomplish their restructuring through the use of a pre-packaged bankruptcy or another mechanism to bring all stakeholders to the table for an agreed-upon determination of their future. It is important that these stakeholders reach reasonable compromises amongst themselves. Creating a government bureaucracy or a “car czar” to arbitrarily pass judgment on the thousands of details involved with a restructuring is akin to nationalizing the auto companies.

Interim Financing: Insurance, Rather than a Taxpayer-Funded Bailout

The Big Three may need some form of interim financing as they finalize their restructuring. In normal economic times, if their restructuring plan is considered viable, such financing should be available in the private market. Because of the current credit crisis, limited assistance may be appropriate in the form of insurance, rather than a taxpayer-funded government bailout that replaces private investment. We propose that the government provide insurance, funded by the participants with a modest FDIC-like fee, which would cover up to 50 percent of the losses of new investment in the case of default, helping to unlock immediate private investment (not unlike debtor in possession financing). Such insurance would expire on March 31, 2009. This proposal ensures that taxpayers are protected and provides a powerful incentive for the Big Three to quickly implement their restructuring plans.

Its a start so get your dead asses to work and earn the paycheck and benefits that are way to high for the amount of successful work you crank out for “we the people”.

My political awareness began in 1960 as a youngster sitting on my father’s lap watching Walter Cronkite report the news during the  John F. Kennedy and Richard M. Nixon campaigns. My father, while not an immigrant was JFK’s age, and like him was an Irish Catholic. There was an immediate connection between my family and the soon to be leader of the “New Frontier”.

Much in common?

Not so much in common?

My maternal family were all immigrants, having come through Ellis Island. They came here not for religious freedom nor for political freedom, but to the greatest country in the world to give their families a better life. Anything was possible in America. Land of the free, home of the brave. A government ”of the people, by the people, and for the people”.

I wonder now; given the “state of the union” and the “of the people, by the people, and for the people,” what decision they would make in 2008.    They loved being Americans and their naturalization was the source of great celebration. They voted religiously, getting someone to  interpret for them when they didn’t understand an issue.

My grandmother’s last vote was in 1996, at 95 years old. She would have considered it a mortal sin not to vote in an election. My mother’s first vote was in 2008 at the age of 86. She who lived through the great depression, through the civil rights movement, (she was a civil rights activist in her stay at home mom sort of way), and had a son serve in the military during Vietnam was thrilled that she cast her first vote ever for the first African American to become President of the United States.

She describes it as the most important thing she could ever have voted for. He gave her hope for the renewal of the America her family had ventured across seas to be a part of. Her reasons for not voting prior to this election are to remain hers.

Politics were “table topics” in our home and often still are. During the early 1960’s talk was of the beginning of the Peace Corps, Man on the Moon, Civil Rights, Vietnam, Cuban Missile Crisis, and Charles de Gaulle. Today it is hope, change, despair and often followed by a longing for when it wasn’t as corrupt, as scandalous, and elected officials crimes aren’t the breaking news of the day).

During the 60’s I sat intent on soaking up all I could about American politics and how great America was. I hadn’t even started having history lessons in school yet and I was addicted. I questioned anyone who was willing to listen and began making up my own mind about what their opinions meant to me and to the world.

Smiling politely to all who answered my inquiring mind, I walked away with my own opinions.   I was teased from the time I was very young that I would make a great politician because of the logic of my arguments. I could see the amazement from my parents and family members when I felt brave enough to voice those political beliefs and thoughts.  I became a clinical thinker long before I knew the philosophical differences between a Republican and a Democrat.

While I have been clinically trained to keep passion and emotion away from my thinking in order to avoid becoming an idealogical conspiratorial thinker, I remain at this time, in this moment,  a clinical thinker that screams at political corruption, partisan politics, partisan political spins that the “spinner” believes I will “blindly see”  as the one, holy, apolostolic truth of their partisan political BS, while they continue to formulate their every press release to further their ideolgical position. Be it left or right, cut the crap, you sound ridiculous when you spin the truth to further partisan beliefs.

After years of being politically active in various local and state campaigns for a variety of candidates, of varied political idealogy, I walked away from that involvement. Until somewhat recently, I have simply kept a “mindseye” on the machine called government. I have ranted and raged about “spin”, corruption, partisanship, self serving elected officials, being considered unAmerican or antiAmerican because of my views on the war.

Called unpatriotic by those who consider my views of the past 8 years just that. I believe in the Constitution of the United States and its preservation. Its’ intent. Its’ integrity. I can now no longer “simply be” and share my rantings with other clinical thinkers. I must lend myself to making a difference through real political activism. To quote a famous movie line, “I’m mad as hell and I am not going to take it anymore.” It is time for us to STAND & BE COUNTED, TAKE BACK GOVERNMENT, RENEW OUR HOPE, FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION, and see AMERICA’S GREATNESS RESTORED.

I believe that:

We the people of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union…must RAISE OUR VOICES!

Another clinical thinker and I know from experience that when we do, we can fall buildings.

Please join the movement to make this country once again “we the people” and a government “of the people, by the people, and for the people”. Join the blog, or contact your elected officials and remind them that you are watching their every move carefully,  that you are prepared to work to unseat them if they fail to serve the public trust as an elected official, that if they cast one self serving vote, accept one tainted dollar, sell one vote, or they act or believe that being a member of Congress exempts them from acting with honor and integrity because their fellow associates will allow this behavior, REMIND THEM THAT YOU WILL NOT.

Impeach Obama?

December 10, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 1:07 AM

Well it is happening.
I figured with all of the unrest and questions unanswered it would not be long before someone decided to impeach Obama.

We can thank Bill Clinton and his antics for this precedence.

I was a little surprised it is happening so soon … before he even is sworn in?

Here is a copy of the document people are signing.

A PETITION
for
The Impeachment of Senator Barack Obama
TO THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama is an admitted illegal drug user and
is believed to have used illegal drugs as recently as November 1999
or more recently. Mr. Obama has maintained contact with other
admitted illegal drug users.

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama has maintained regular contact
with known criminals such as Antoin (Tony) Rezko and other
criminal elements in Chicago and Illinois. Mr. Obama has
conducted business with these criminals and received campaign
donations from them. Mr. Obama was compelled to return an estimated $250,000 in
donations related to Tony Rezko.

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama has consistently lied about his
contact with convicted criminal Tony Rezko. The Tony Rezko
corruption trial revealed that FBI mole John Thomas helped investigators
“build a record of repeat visits to the old offices of Rezko and former
business partner Daniel Mahru’s Rezmar Corp., at 853 N. Elston, by
Blagojevich and Obama during 2004 and 2005,” according to the February
10, 2008 Chicago Sun-Times.

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama has engaged in unscrupulous business
practices, in particular with Mr. Robert Blackwell. Mr. Obama
received an $ 8,000 per month “legal retainer” from Mr. Blackwell
for a total of $112,000 and reported the income through his law firm
in a manner not unlike money laundering. Obama, along with Obama
campaign manager Dan Shomon, procured $ 320,000 in state grants
for Blackwell’s company Killerspin. Blackwell companies contributed
over $ 32,000 to the Obama campaign in 2007.

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama used the office of IL Senator to
facilitate the vote rigging in Chicago as chairman of the Illinois Senate
Health and Human Services Committee. Mr. Obama pushed legislation in Senate Bill
1332 to reduce the number of members of the Health Facilities Planning Board
from 15 to 9. Mr. Obama did conspire with Stuart Levine, Tony Rezko and
Rod Blogojevich to rig the committee and was rewarded with campaign
contributions. The new members appointed included 3 doctors who contributed to
Mr. Obama. On April 21, 2004, Stuart Levine explicitly advised Dr. Robert Weinstein,
who is now indicted, of Tony Rezko’s role in manipulating the Planning Board’s vote.

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama has engaged in lies and deception
about his past. Mr. Obama lied about his contact level with
convicted criminal Tony Rezko, the amounts and sources of
campaign contributions and encounters with the law. A complaint
has been filed with the Bar Association of Illinois alleging
that Mr. Obama did not answer truthfully all questions on the
application to the bar.

Whereas: Senator Barack Obama has invoked the FOIA in Illinois
when it was politically expedient and ignored or violated the
FOIA at other times. In the Illinois Senate proceedings of
Mr. Obama, in Senate Bill 1416, pleads the importance of businesses
bidding on state contracts having improved access to FOIA data. When
later questioned about his records during his term in the IL
Senate, Mr. Obama gave evasive answers or refused to supply records.

Whereas: The First Amendment provides a right for the people “to
petition the government for a redress of grievances.” Precedents
exist for impeachment and expulsion of a US Senator. Senator William
Blount was impeached by the House on July 7, 1797 and expelled by
the Senate the next day.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the People, Undersigned,
being citizens of the United States and residents in the Cities and States so
indicated, HEREBY Demand that the Congress of the United States begin
immediate impeachment and/or expulsion proceedings against Senator
Barack Obama.

Addendum: Petition to Impeach Senator Obama

We were urged to add the following information about Senator Obama.
This comes under the topic of lies and deception but also falls under more
serious charges of abuse of power and possible violation of the Logan Act.
Those signing the petition prior to this addendum will be identified.

August 4, 2008

Whereas: As a US Senator, Barack Obama violated the stated intention of
his 2006 Official Government Visa to Africa by publicly propagandizing
for his cousin, Railla Odinga against the US democratic ally of Kenya.
Whereas the stated “mission” of Senator Obama’s Official Visa, according
to the Kenya Office of Public Communications, was to “nurture relations
between the Continent and the United States” he, instead, made public
protest before Kenya citizens to rally against their leadership,
invoking a need for “Change!” and accusing this US allied nation of
“corruption.” In Official Protest of Mr. Obama’s passport abuse and
misconduct, Kenya’s government cited his “extremely disturbing
statements on issues which it is clear, he was very poorly informed, and
on which he chose to lecture the Government and the people of Kenya on
how to manage our country.” Whereas, furthermore, there is no public
record of any sanctions or reprimand by the US Congress of Senator
Obama’s passport violation or campaigning on foreign soil against a US
ally, history has since recorded the broadspread destruction of Kenya’s
economy and large scale loss of life as a result of the violence
instigated by Odinga’s ODM campaign there.

Chicago Politics … business as usual?

December 9, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 22:54 PM

This morning around 6 am Gov. Rod Blagojevich was handcuffed and dragged off by the FBI being charged with corruption. What kind of corruption? Well for a start trying to sell Barack Obama’s senate seat.

Speaking about the criminal complaint against Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich for corruption. “But as this is a ongoing investigation involving the governor I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to comment on the issue at this time.”

Asked what contact he’d had with the governor’s office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said “I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening.”

However on November 23, 2008, Obama senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said:

OPPS: Today we get a “sorry I misspoke” from Axelrod?

So far Obama is not dragged into the middle of this … however the same bad people seem to keep cropping up from the Obama past.

Is this another of those “he was just a guy on the block that I passed on the street” deals?

Never a dull moment.

The whole report here

Dig Dig Dig and what does one find?
More inconsistencies in what Obama says and what he did.

I have to say “common sense” tells me if you muck around the pen with pigs you probably come out covered in slop.

If this whole situation were not so serious it could be drop dead funny.
I suppose the key question is what shakes out in the wash with Obama … is he involved, oblivious, naive or none?
At least we know the months and years before us are probably going to be very interesting indeed.

Below is a before it all hit the fan report.

Ill. governor meeting with Obama today

By Carol Sowers
Wednesday, November 05, 2008 at 10:39 a.m.

CHICAGO, ILL. — Now that Barack Obama will be moving to the White House, his seat in the U.S. Senate representing Illinois will have to be filled.

That’s one of Obama’s first priorities today.

He’s meeting with Governor Rod Blagojevich this afternoon in Chicago to discuss it.

Illinois law states that the governor chooses that replacement.

There’s already been speculation about his selection…from Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Chicago’s south side who co-chaired Obama’s presidential campaign, to recently-retired state senate president Emil Jones, to the governor himself.

It’s likely the governor will make his decision quickly so the new senator will get some seniority before newly-elected senators take office in January.

Part of the timing depends on when Obama officially vacates his senate seat.

KHQA’s Alexis Hunt is speaking with Illinois Senator John Sullivan today about his thoughts on that replacement process, his time working with Obama in the state senate, and if there’s a chance Sullivan might play a role in the Obama administration. Watch KHQA News at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. tonight to hear what he has to say.

Donofrio vs Obama discussed by Olbermann on MSNBC

December 9, 2008
Posted by clinicalthinker @ 11:43 AM

Yesterday my cousin mentioned a blurb she happened to hear on TV about up and coming comments on the Obama “natural born citizen” SCOTUS ruling .. Keith Olbermann was mentioned. Since I have heard nothing on MSM (main stream media) about this issue I set my DVR to record his show.

The segment started like this:
The idea that Barack Obama is not actually a “natural born citizen” of this country is so ridiculous ….

(you can review the video for yourself below) Olbermann has set the tone so what followed was not much of a surprise.

The point that I found most interesting was a comment from David Horowitz … the comment directly below has comments that came to mind as I was listening (remember I talk to the TV).

Below that you will see the Horowitz comment intact.

“The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. ”

How about being aware that the “fringe group” is actually a “Loyal American Fringe” (and growing) concerned about the Constitution itself?

“What difference does it make to the future of this country whether Obama was born on US soil?”

WHAT DIFFERERENCE DOES IT MAKE? … that pretty much explains Horowitz’s thought process … loyalty lies not with the Constitution and the intent of our founding fathers.

What matters Mr. Horowitz is … if that person is actually a “natural born citizen” or simply a “citizen of the USA”. One qualifies as President one DOES NOT.

“Advocates of this destructive campaign will argue that the constitutional principle regarding the qualifications for President trumps all others.”

At this point my jaw is dropping realizing Horowitz does not seem to comprehend how destructive HIS ATTITUDE toward this matter is to the Constitution.

“But how viable will our Constitution be if 5 Supreme Court justices should decide to void 64 million ballots?”

How viable will the Constitution be if they DO NOT?
How viable it is without “SOMEONE” vetting the worthiness of our most high HEAD OF STATE?

” … It is not conservatism: it is sore loserism and quite radical in its intent.”

It is neither. It is LOYAL AMERICA tired to the teeth of those like HOROWITZ, OLBERMANN, HUFFINGTON and a myriad of others foisting their agenda on a population who thinks they are getting nightly news rather than “self interest propaganda“.

“Respect for election results is one of the most durable bulwarks of our unity as a nation.”

I agree!

“Conservatives need to accept the fact that we lost the election and get over it;”

NO LOYAL AMERICANS do not have to accept someone who is does not meet the specified requirements of the Constitution.

“and get on with the important business of reviving our country’s economy and defending its citizens, and – by the ways– its Constitution.”

There is no more important business than making sure the Constitution REMAINS in tact and the highest office of our land not be usurped by someone “without credentials”

David Horowitz
National Review Online

I am not sure if MSNBC has altered the content or context of this comment to fit their agenda since I was not able to find the original on the National Review Online site. Two things lead me to speculate on this one of them being the tone of Olbermann himself.

EDIT: It was not entact view the whole article HERE.

“The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. ….What difference does it make to the future of this country whether Obama was born on US soil? Advocates of this destructive campaign will argue that the constitutional principle regarding the qualifications for President trumps all others. But how viable will our Constitution be if 5 Supreme Court justices should decide to void 64 million ballots? … It is not conservatism: it is sore loserism and quite radical in its intent. Respect for election results is one of the most durable bulwarks of our unity as a nation. Conservatives need to accept the fact that we lost the election, and get over it; and get on with the important business of reviving our country’s economy and defending its citizens, and — by the way — its Constitution.”

David Horowitz
National Review Online

Arianna Huffington weighs in on the issue stating “I am not a national born citizen”.
Well that was a “no brainer” since both parents are Greek and she herself was born in Athens. So the question remains does Arianna REALLY know what “natural born citizen” means?
Arianna seemed stuck on the line “whether Barack Obama is a “natural born citizen” or not”. To her that was totally unacceptable “its like saying whether the earth is flat or not”.

I found that comment an interesting analogy since we know ONE is NOT and it appears the other is NOT also.

But then it is easy to laugh off the Huffington logic as no logic at all.

Below you will find the whole video clip from the Olbermann show:

Donofrio outlines his argument concisely on his blog in a letter to ABC News:

“The main argument of my law suit alleges that since Obama was a British citizen – at birth – a fact he admits is true, then he cannot be a “natural born citizen”. The word “born” has meaning. It deals with the status of a presidential candidate “at birth”.

Obama had dual nationality at birth. The status of the candidate at the time of the election is not as relevant to the provisions of the Constitution as is his status “at birth.” If one is not “born” a natural born citizen, he can never be a natural born citizen.”
