Generation Zero

I am not a Sean Hannity fan by any means … however he does have interesting guests periodically … now if he would just let them talk without interruption (must be a virus inundating Fox because O’Reilly is also infected). I listen thinking blah, blah, blah (why don’t you just SHUT UP and let this interesting person finish a sentence?)

So I DVR the programs and zip through the opinion (which we all seem to have) and stop when something other pops up. I wear a big girl thong now and can my own opinion from the facts for myself.

Such was the case the other night … when Hannity interviewed the producers of Generation Zero (Steve Bannon & David Bossie from Citizens United Productions).

I sat riveted and aghast … not because I was surprised at the material presented but because someone had the guts and foresight to produce and present it.

The information is CHILLING to the bone.

Being born in 1941 I could relate since I have lived through that beginning. Being a behaviorist I knew immediately just how accurately they had hit the nail on the head. The how and why we ended up in this mess today.

This documentary is a MUST SEE FOR EVERYONE who hopes to escape the downward spiral we have allowed ourselves to be pushed in to.

From their website this is a description of the ABOUT THE FILM.

“The current economic crisis is not a failure of capitalism, but a failure of culture. Generation Zero explores the cultural roots of the global financial meltdown – beginning with the narcissism of the 1960′s, spreading like a virus through the self-indulgent 90′s, and exploding across the world in the present economic cataclysm.

Generation Zero goes beneath the shallow media headlines and talking head sound bites to get to the source of today’s economic nightmare. With a cutting edge style and haunting imagery, this must see documentary will change everything you thought you knew about Wall Street and Washington.

Featuring experts, authors, and pundits from across the political spectrum, Generation Zero exposes the little told story of how the mindset of the baby boomers sowed the seeds of economic disaster that will be reaped by coming generations.”

Below are the documentary trailers.

I have hit the political forums and what did I find?
Denial as usual. Sniveling and whining that “BOOMERS” have caused NOTHING … boo hoo!

What apparently escapes them is the POINT they were trying to make in the film … that loving parents trying to provide a better life have sheltered enough “narcissistic brats” that lack ethics and responsibility which is the base of our governmental meltdown today.

If the shoe does not fit … don’t squeeze your foot into it!

So what can we expect from the government and corporate spoilers?
ATTACK of the facts!
ATTACK on the producers!

Unfortunately there are so many ignorant out there that will buy into that mindset.
Don’t you think that one day people would BECOME LEERY OF FREE GOVERNMENT KOOLAID?

There is always room for HOPE.

Interesting blog you’ve got here, clinical thinking one. To understand the arguments put forth by the “Generation Zero” documentary, it is crucial to distinguish between the actual Baby Boom Generation (born 1942-1954) vs. Generation Jones (1954-1965). GenJones was originally lumped in with the Boomers, but is now generally seen by experts as a separate generation. Understanding the differences between these two generations is central to comprehending this documentary.

The post-WWII demographic boom in births is one thing, the cultural generations born during that era is another. Generations are a function of the common formative experiences of its members, not the fertility rates of its parents. And most analysts now see generations as getting shorter (usually 10-15 years now), partly because of the acceleration of culture. Many experts now believe it breaks down more or less this way:

    DEMOGRAPHIC boom in babies: 1946-1964
    Baby Boom GENERATION: 1942-1953
    Generation Jones: 1954-1965
    Generation X: 1966-1978
    Generation Y/Millennials: 1979-1993

Google Generation Jones, and you’ll see it’s gotten lots of media attention, and many top commentators from many top publications and networks (Washington Post, Time magazine, NBC, Newsweek, ABC, etc.) now specifically use this term. In fact, the Associated Press’ annual Trend Report chose the Rise of Generation Jones as the #1 trend of 2009. I found this page helpful because it gives a pretty good overview of recent media interest in GenJones: http://generationjones.com/2009latest.html

    Hello GTF600,

WOW! I guess I just missed the baby boom by a hair.
Thanks for the link you discovered and posted here.

Somehow the thrust of what I saw (limited as it was at this point) was the trend passed on from parents to children for the past 60 years.
    Getting worse as time progressed.
Do you suppose that is why they called it Generation Zero to incorporate everyone since 1942?

Today it is probably safe to say that Generation Y/Millennials is dangerously close to a non recoverable mess.
What a great parenting job we did in trying to spare the generations to come from real life trial and tribulation.

Their ethical base for the most part sucks.
They do not have a clue how to care for themselves and most likely would die in a few days if their IPhone were taken away tomorrow or the power grid failed. If they did not die they would kill you for a heads up for an extra day of existence.

The point being where did this all start to go south?
I have stated this before on this blog.
When I was raising my daughter and trashed my Dr. Spock book on how to entitle your kid under the guise of how to appropriately raise your children.

I know this again is a pretty broad brush and not every parent failed in raising their children.
In fact I believe there are vast numbers of great people out there (kids too) … the good part is those of us not paying attention are awakening to what is going on. On the other hand the scale is severely tipped in favor of “SCREW ANYONE TO GET AHEAD” or get a freebie at someone elses expense.

The real question is can it be fixed before we topple over the edge and exactly how?

This debt commission will accomplish nothing. It is further proof that we have a failed Congress that can not or will not act in the best interests of the American people. Our two-party system yields one-party results – steadily increasing Federal power at the expense of our freedom and economic opportunity. Real change will come from breaking the grip these two parties have on our nations throat.

I’m new to having a kid. My sister moved on to a better place a few months ago and considering my nephew doesn’t know his father, he wanted to live with me. It was not hard to say, yes. He is blood and I love the little guy. I am in search of every piece of information I can locate on the web about parenting because I want to be the best uncle a kid can have so, thank you for the blog post and now I must move on to the next one.
