It’s Getting Dirty in Alan Grayson’s 8th Congressional District

The following blog is fictional. The reason it is fictional is because in today’s political climate I cannot write what has been circulating around as whispers in Orlando without getting dragged into court. In fact I have no hard evidence so maybe it is best that I do tag this blog as fictional. I have been threatened with legal action that will cost me “$20,000 to $25,000” so the names and other details have been changed. I can assure you there are sources for these allegations in this blog that are very real but they cannot be revealed.

For outsiders Florida’s 8th congressional district is home to the infamous Alan “Die Quickly” Grayson. Alan is a certified progressive loon who is a millionaire and has raised $2.4 million for his re-election campaign. So even though he is a loon $2.4 million buys a lot of television and radio time. Alan knows he has a fight on his hands and already the dirty tricks and rumors are flying in this campaign.

Congressman Alan Grayson has $2.4 million to play dirty tricks with

On the Republican side there is front runner Todd Long, top fund raiser Armando Gutierrez Jr, the surprising Patricia Sullivan, Dan Fanelli, Kevin Michael Butler, Peg Dunmire who was a Republican, Prince Brown, Steven J. Gerritzen, Kurt Kelly, Bruce O’Donoghue, and Terrence Neal Tysall Sr. A very congested field all vying for a chance to unseat Grayson. The word on the street is Todd Long is the favorite but is vulnerable to of all people Sullivan who seems to be everywhere matching Long one on one in speaking events.

In a head to head matchup the Republican challenger would most likely defeat Grayson. Grayson has destroyed his reputation among independent voters with his insane rants and openly hostile views towards freedom, liberty and the constitution. He is a favorite of the communist “progressives” throughout America and has raised a huge campaign fund from the far left loons. Money is not a problem for Alan. So what would a well financed congressman from Orlando do to give himself that little extra assurance that he would get reelected in a tight race? Sure would be nice if one of the Republican challengers could be talked into, maybe enticed into running as a Tea Party candidate wouldn’t it Alan?

Enter Huggie Fetzer (fictitious name) a Winter Park (fictional) resident who has been involved in Republican politics since the early 70’s. Mr. Fetzer (fictional) is the chairman of Kill the Taxes (fictional) and host The Fetzer Report (fictional) that is aired every weekday from 9 am – 10 am (fictitious time) on AM 880 WXXX Radio in Orlando. He has been an outspoken local critic of government waste and abuse for several years and has built up a fan base for his anti tax activities.

Now before I go further Mr. Fetzer (fictional) has quite the reputation for filing law suits. He currently is involved in a law suit with no less than 34 Tea Party organizations “to dismiss the bogus lawsuit filed by various Tea Party activists seeking to prevent the Flora Tea Party (TEA) (fictitious name) from using the name “Flora Tea Party.”” Mr. Fetzer knows and works with Scott O’Reilly (fictitious name) who registered the “Flora Tea Party” (fictitious name) as an official political party with the power to run candidates for local as well as federal elections. Huggie is also rumored to have collected $200,000 (twice?) from the Orlando Tagic (fictitious name) for dropping efforts to oppose a new basketball arena tax and $471,250 from prominent development attorney Pal Mantor (fictitious name) who resigned his position with the City of Winter Park over the allege payments and ensuing controversy.

And this is where it gets interesting.

Last February Peg Dunmire finished with 3% in a local straw poll as a Republican Candidate. Sixth out of eleven. Her campaign finance report showed $1,125 as of December 31, 2009. She was going nowhere in a crowded Republican field of candidates. And allegedly in steps in Mr. Fetzer and two of his operatives. Allegedly Mr. Fetzer or Mr. O’Rielly (who takes ownership of discussions with Mrs. Dunmire) persuaded Mrs. Dunmire to abandon her Republican bid and enter the 8th Congressional District race as a Tea Party candidate. The same Flora Tea Party Mr. Fetzer and Scott O’Rielly formed a few months back.

According to a source it is rumored Mrs. Dunmire allegedly received $10,000 from the “Tea Party” as a “lure” to switch and another $10,000 to be on their ticket. Pretty big corruption allegations if it can be traced back to Grayson.

But where is the connection between the “Tea Party” and Grayson?

According to the Orlando Sentinel “Grayson often consults with Huggie Fetzer, the anti-tax advocate and Central Florida political wild card. Indeed, Fetzer – jokingly calling himself part of the “vast right-wing conspiracy” — said this morning that Grayson wants him to serve on an advisory council for small business.” So Grayson and Fetzer seem to be on speaking terms.

But how would Grayson funnel the money to Fetzer?

It is reported that Grayson is buying political advertising on none other than 810 AM radio in Orlando. How convenient.

Some local politicians think the advertising buy is nothing more than “politicians advertise with Fetzer to keep him from attacking them” but internet rumors and speculation are running ramped. And for good reason. It is also rumored Mr. Fetzer allegedly received $40,000 (from Grayson?) from an unnamed source that was possibly used to allegedly pay off Dunmire. If there is a connection between Grayson, Fetzer and Dunmire this will be national news not some local blogger speculating.

All this is local Orlando rumor and is speculation. What we do know is Mr. Fetzer has a reputation of pursuing his own best interest financially and politically. We know the Dunmire campaign was going nowhere fast in the Republican primary. We know Grayson has $2.4 million to do any dirty deed he wants to. $2.4 million buys a lot of private inspectors and dirty tricks. Political corruption at its finest.

Was Mr. Fetzer and Mr. O’Reilly planning to leverage his new Flora Tea Party as a venue to field candidates to split the Republican vote so he could personally financially gain?

Why is Alan Grayson advertising on 810 AM radio?

What is the status of Peg Dunmire’s finances and where did the money come from?

What is the personal debt situation of Mr. Fetzer and Flora Tea Party founder Scott O’Reilly?

Does Scott O’Reilly owe back taxes over $155,000?

Would the tremendous pressure of poor financial situation cause desperate men to go to extreme measures?

Has Alan Grayson donated $40,000 to any one or any organization or corporation run by any one listed above?

This is a powder keg waiting to explode. The City Beautiful deserves better.

This press statement was issued by the Florida Tea Party on 4-19-2010. Notice how the numbers of personal cash and Tea Party donations almost match up 100% with the blog.

“Tea Party Nominee Peg Dunmire Releases 1st Quarter Campaign Fundraising Report

Dunmire and TEA PARTY report raising over $150,000
in cash and in-kind donations for 1st quarter.

Peg Dunmire, TEA PARTY nominee for the 8th Congressional District seat held by Democrat incumbent Alan Grayson, has released the information contained within the first quarter financial report that was filed with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) on April 15, 2010.

The Dunmire for Congress campaign has reported raising a total of $43,569.02 to date. That total includes both in-kind expenditures; cash and a candidate loan of $10,500. Cash on hand for Dunmire is $10,500. Additionally, the TEA PARTY will be donating $10,000 to the Dunmire Campaign on April 30, 2010.

The Florida Tea Party (TEA) has also released its financial records for the quarter. To date, the TEA PARTY has raised a grand total of $110,453.96. That total includes both in-kind and cash donations. Cash on hand for the TEA PARTY is in excess of $20,000. Combining the Dunmire campaign and the TEA PARTY cash on hand is in excess of $30,000.

To date over 130 individual have contributed to the TEA PARTY, with over half of those donors in the first ten days of April (not included in the report ending March 31, 2010).

“We’re definitely picking up steam,” stated TEA PARTY Chairman Frederic O’Neal. We have not been concentrating on fundraising yet, but the response has been very positive,” O’Neal concluded. Taken together, the TEA PARTY and the Dunmire campaign have raised over $150,000 in cash and in-kind donations to date.

Some notable TEA PARTY contributors include: Larry Guest (former Sentinel columnist): The Honorable Frank Messersmith (former Republican State House Leader); Richard Lee (son of the legendary milk diary farm owner-TG Lee); The Honorable Rod Reynolds (former Winter Garden City Commissioner); The Honorable Carol Nichols (former Winter Garden City Commissioner) and Charles Klein, the former State Chairman of the Veterans Party (Florida).

The TEA PARTY is an official political party in the State of Florida and is authorized by the Secretary of State to file TEA PARTY candidates in the November 2010 general election. The official ballot designation is TEA which will follow the name of each TEA candidate. The Florida TEA PARTY is the first in the nation to obtain new party status. Fifteen other states are in the process of establishing TEA PARTY political parties in their respective states. The most recent political TEA PARTY to organize is the New York TEA PARTY which is being organized by Michael Caputo, the political consultant to Everitt Wilkinson of the South Florida Tea Party organization and a prominent tea party leader.

Floridians debate – and sue – to determine who’s a real Tea Partier
By Alex Pappas — The Daily Caller | Published: 05/05/10 at 3:49 AM | Updated: 05/05/10 at 7:07 AM

Commissioner Randy Wilkinson, who some claim is not a genuine Tea Partier

Randy Wilkinson is running for Congress as a third party candidate on the Florida Tea Party ticket — but don’t be fooled, some Tea Partiers in the state say, because that political party is a sham.

Since The Daily Caller wrote a feature on Wilkinson, e-mails have poured in from angry Floridians involved in the movement who say they — not Wilkinson and others affiliated with the Florida third party — are the real Tea Party activists.

Some have even filed suit against three men involved with the Florida Tea Party, alleging the men hijacked the movement’s name.

“Sorry, but the Tea Party political party you are writing about is not a part of the authentic Tea Party movement,” said Michael R. Caputo, who runs a public relations firm in Florida in an e-mail to The Daily Caller. “The party is a sham; you were duped.”

Fred O’Neal, founder of the Florida Tea Party, said he is now filing suit on Wednesday against the activists who are suing him. Caputo, he said, is one of a number of Republicans who are trying to “drive a wedge between us and other Tea Party groups.”

Caputo said grassroots activists in Florida are more powerful than the third party and “will work against this fake Tea Party candidate in the Polk election,” referencing Polk County, where Wilkinson resides.

Wilkinson, in an interview with The Daily Caller, says he’s the real deal and “there’s nobody really in charge of the Tea Party” to tell him otherwise. He’s conservative, he said, and those who don’t believe him “need to check my history.”

“I’ve never been the favorite son of the Republican establishment,” he acknowledged.

Tim McClellan, a political strategist involved with the South Florida Tea Party, said the third party is a diabolical plot to confuse Tea Partiers so they do not know who to vote for or who is real. “That they would take advantage of the unsavvy political people who got involved in politics since Obama got elected to try to pull something like this on them is nothing short of wrong,” he said during a phone interview.

Asked about Wilkinson, McClellan said, “He’s a pawn that got caught up in it.”

Wilkinson, running for Florida’s 12th District seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Adam Putnam, said conservatives against his candidacy are just Republican operatives who “have an axe to grind” and who “want legitimacy and credit.”

“The Republicans have clearly failed,” said Wilkinson, a county commissioner in Florida’s Polk County, who paused during a phone interview because he said a contributor to his campaign knocked on his door to deliver $100. He switched his party affiliation from Republican to Florida Tea Party last week before the candidate filing deadline.

Wilkinson said he’s a Southern Baptist who “became a Republican because of Ronald Reagan” and who has attended and even spoken at several Tea Party gatherings.

Critics of Wilkinson’s political party say the party’s founders — O’Neal, Doug Guetzloe and Nick Egoroff — “want revenge,” according to McClellan. Guetzloe, he said, is a political consultant who was banned from the GOP with a history of political trickery who saw the Tea Party movement as an opportunity to perhaps make money.

McClellan leads a group of about 33 plaintiffs who are suing the Florida Tea Party over their usage of the name. He said that since the third party was registered, local grassroots groups were told not to use the phrase “Tea Party” without the political party’s permission. On December 6, that trial is set to begin in U.S. District Court in West Palm Beach.

O’Neal said he never said the local groups could no longer use the Tea Party name: “We never made that kind of threat, but they got it out there, so everyone thinks we’re the bad guys.”

O’Neal’s soon-to-be filed complaint, obtained by The Daily Caller, lists Guetzloe as the plaintiff. Defendants listed are Cheryl Matchett, Everett Wilkinson, Michael Cuputo and Tim McClellan. The suit alleges Guetzloe suffered emotional distress, defamation and loss of income over the Tea Party fiasco. O’Neal said the suit “pretty well ties up the motivations of why they’re criticizing us.”

    “We’re fighting back,” he said.

You may or may not be aware, but Fred ONeal, Nick Egoroff, Doug Guetzloe and Peg Dunmire recently acquired ORLANDO TEA PARTY originally established by Lisa Feroli who in order to cut back on expenses, allowed the group to laps; along with all the members who support the Orlando Tea Party, potentially compromising member identity to be potentially spammed or misdirected into their 3rd party message.

I own Orlando Tea Party, Inc., and our message matches exactly, Lisa Feroli and Jason Hoyt, in that we are about POLICY not PARTY. As you are probably aware, the above people are also being sued in Federal court for appropriation of the name TEA PARTY as a 3rd party name with the FEC. I am being sued for speaking out against it.

I anticipated this and other problems that have already transpired, which is why I retained the legal name. Organizing for America (OBama’s campaign website) and Matt Falconer are responsible for cybersquatting the Orlando Tea Party name by reserving the following websites: http://theorlandoteaparty.com and http://orlandoteaparty.org.

The corporate website for ORLANDO TEA PARTY, INC. is at http://orlandoteaparty.net and http://otownteaparty.com (which redirects to the .net site)

    ———-

Lisa Feroli of Floridians Unite/Orlando Tea Party is the group that organized the Tea Parties at Lake Eola last year. They have been active in this fight against our loss of liberty and bankrupting of our country since February 2009 organizing protests, vigils and Eat and Greets with candidates.

She and everyone woke up to find that Doug Guetzloe had taken over Orlando Tea Party – Uniting for America account that they canceled to save money.

Fred O’Neal, Nick Egoroff and Doug Guetzloe started the Florida Tea Party as a political party despite the fact that not one group involved in the Tea Party organizing this year believe that this is the time to start a third party.

Mr. O’Neal stated on Bud Hedinger’s radio show they would not run a candidate in a race that already had conservative candidates. The first candidate they announced was for District 8, against Alan Grayson, Peg Dunmire.

Doug Guetzloe has had nothing to do with the Orlando Tea Party organizing in any way or Floridians Unite.

Lisa Feroli “I am sure you will hear how he has been fighting for 20 years successfully against big government with his Ax the Tax group but if he is so successful with his organization, why didn’t he call his new political party the Ax the Tax Party?”

Floridians Unite are still very active at http://www.orlandoteaparty.com and have Facebook also. You can sign up there to take part in the grassroots aspects of the Tea Party, as well as increase the size of this meetup group who stands for the same values as Floridians Unite!

    To: Cheryl

Subject: Lies, innuendo, misrepresentations and libel – that’s why you’re being sued.Cher

    Cheryl:

This statement that you have posted is yet more of your lies, innuendo, misrepresentations and libel which is the reason you’re being sued. We have no problem with debating the issues or the rather useless actions against our bourgeoning official TEA PARTY. No one really cares what you say about it and we don’t either.

In blue is your statement (regular text-Cheryl-OTown Tea Party) –
in red is the truth (CAPITAL TEXT Doug Getzlow)

I would like to apologize to everyone for any misunderstanding you may have about Orlando Tea Party.

Our organizations is not a PAC, does not endorse candidates and is NOT a 3rd party, nor does not acknowledge the 3rd minor (unqualified for Federal elections from what I know to date) as being a party of the Tea Party Movement.

THE TEA PARTY IS QUALIFIED TO RUN FEDERAL CANDIDATES AND CURRENTLY HAS THREE (3) OFFICIALLY QUALIFIED AS FEDERAL CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATES IN FLORIDA – YOUR STATEMENT IS A LIE.

You may or may not know, but I am being sued by Doug Guetzloe for trying to quell the 3rd party he, Fred O’Neal and Nick Egoroff are responsible for forming, which is unpopular. I have been working hard to notify everyone in the movement that I am not a part of their organization and still have members in the movement who are still not sure if I am a part of their group or not.

NEITHER NICK EGOROFF OR I FORMED OR FILED THE TEA PARTY – FRED O’NEAL DID AND HE IS THE SOLE INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING THE TEA PARTY. – YOUR STATEMENT IS A LIE.

IT’S ALSO A LIE THAT MEMBERS IN THE MOVEMENT ARE NOT SURE IF YOU’RE A PART OR NOT – THEY SIMPLY DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE WITH OR NOT. IT’S A LIE – BUT NOT LEGALLY ACTIONABLE.

I AM NOT. I met Doug I believe around 3 or 4 years ago and have (not in any political or activist capacity) set up a couple of websites, participated in protests against SunRail and petition collection initiatives (minimally).

YOU MET ME WHEN YOU JOINED OUR AX THE TAX MOVEMENT SEVEN YEARS AGO AGAINST THE MOBILITY 2020 CAMPAIGN – YOU CONTACTED ME IN A POLITICAL AND ACTIVIST CAPACITY – THIS STATEMENT IS A LIE.

The Tea Party Movement changed my heart and perceptions about a lot of very important things one being; the importance of voting and paying attention to bad decisions made by people I assumed look out for our best interest and seeing my responsibility as a citizen for the mistakes that have been made, and that the movement is not a political movement or party (it doesn’t have to be), because I am not interested in politics and still am not.

THE STATEMENT THAT THE ‘MOVEMENT’ IS NOT A POLITICAL MOVEMENT OR PARTY IS NOT TRUE. THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT IS BOTH A POLITICAL MOVEMENT AND A PARTY HERE IN FLORIDA – THIS STATEMENT IS A LIE AND YOU’RE CERTAINLY NOT IN ANY POSITION OF LEADERSHIP (SINCE THERE IS NONE) TO MAKE THAT STATEMENT. IT MAY BE YOUR OPINION, BUT THAT’S ALL IT IS.

I am still concerned that not enough of us are outspoken against the 3rd party, which I believe lead to the law suit singling me out for speaking out and many have said they are too afraid to voice dissent over it or the people who started it. Now there are 2 others who have helped me get the word out, and if we don’t garner more support within the movement (masses), I fear they will be sued as well (although they have stated they are not “afraid” of being sued).

MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT OUTSPOKEN AGAINST THE 3RD PARTY BECAUSE THEY DON’T BELIEVE THE SAME THINGS YOU BELIEVE. THE TEA PARTY IS GAINING WIDESPREAD ACCEPTANCE THROUGHOUT THE STATE AND THE NATION – THIS STATEMENT IS A LIE. IF THE TWO OTHERS YOU MENTION SPREAD LIES AND LIBEL WE WILL INDEED SUE THEM ALSO. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE LIES AND LIBEL OR SLANDER – IT IS IN DIRECT OPPOSITION TO THE FIRST AMENDMENT AND THE FOUNDERS WOULD NEVER HAVE ALLOWED PEOPLE SUCH AS YOURSELF TO MISREPRESENT, LIE AND ENGAGE IN DIRECT CHARACTER ASSASINATION. BE ASSURED ANYONE THAT PARTICIPATES IN LIBEL AND SLANDER WILL BE SUED.

Please visit this site, join and post at least once how you feel http://www.facebook.c...

What bothers me, is that millions of Americans can join a Karate Kid facebook page, but I can’t even get at least 1,000 out of what I believe to be at least 2 million members of the Tea Party Movement to join my group of which I am under fire and being sued over.

NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR POSITION OTHER THAN A COUPLE OF WINGNUTS. AGAIN YOU’RE BEING SUED BECAUSE YOU HAVE LIED, SLANDERED AND LIBELED HONEST INDIVIDUALS WHO TAKE THEIR REPUTATIONS VERY SERIOUSLY.

Please help, and if you think I am wrong, please let me know. I am open to criticism. Know that 3 men have placed their necks (at their personal financial cost) on the chopping block (in a Federal suit against the 3rd party people) for the benefit of this grassroots movement and future ones and the 3rd party people still don’t understand the purpose of the suit, and have informed everyone that it isn’t about the 3rd party, but the use of the word Florida (which is shocking).

THE ‘THREE MEN WHO HAVE PLACED THEIR NECKS ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK’ DID SO WILLINGLY AND VOLUNTARILY. THEY SUED US IN A BOGUS LAWSUIT – ONE THAT THEY WILL LOSE VERY SHORTLY. THEY THEN NOTIFIED 6,000 INDIVIDUALS NATIONWIDE TO JOIN THEM AND A COUPLE DOZEN DID. YOU HAVE TRIED AND THEY – AFTER INVESTIGATING YOU – DETERMINED THAT THEY DIDN’T WANT YOU AS A PLAINTIFF. YOU HAVE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE YOU’RE A PART OF THAT AND THAT’S A LIE. THE THREE PEOPLE YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED ARE CLOSELY IDENTIFIED WITH ALLEGED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY WITH FEDERALLY INDICTED SCOTT ROTHSTEIN – AND ARE REPRESENTED BY ROTHSTEIN LEGAL PARTNERS. CAPUTO AND ROTHSTEIN WERE NOT ONLY IN BUSINESS TOGETHER BUT CAPUTO HAD AN OFFICE INSIDE ROTHSTEIN’S OFFICE PRIOR THE FBI AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CLOSING THEM DOWN AND INDICTING ROTHSTEIN AND HIS PARTNERS. WILKINSON, CAPUTO AND McCLELLAN HAVE ALL BEEN IDENTIFIED AS BEING ON THE PAYROLL OF FORMER GOP BOSS JIM GREER WHO RETAINED THEM FOR ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES AGAINST US AND SENATOR DOCKERY. PAID IN PART BY CSX ALLEGEDLY. CAPUTO IS FORMING THE NEW YORK POLITICAL TEA PARTY AND 2 OUT OF THREE HAVE NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN THE TEA PARTY ACTIVITIES.

We have tried ignoring them, which is a mistake. When we ignored them (and didn’t allow them to take the stage at Tea Parties, they stared a 3rd party; when the started the 3rd party, they wrote warning emails to tea party leaders about use of the name TEA PARTY; when we ignored them (most of us, when The Federal lawsuit was filed against them), they threatened law suits to anyone who said anything against what they did and their reputations; when most of are ignoring them; they took over Lisa Feroli’s Orlando Tea Party meetup site (membership and all). What is next if we keep ignoring them?

YOU AND THE OTHER 3 HAVE NEVER ‘IGNORED’ US. THEY HAVE BEEN ON THE ATTACK FOR OVER SIX MONTHS – PROBABLY WITH ILLEGALLY OBTAINED ROTHSTEIN FUNDS. WE HAVE NEVER ASKED ANYONE TO ‘TAKE THE STATE AT TEA PARTIES’ – I WAS THE GUEST SPEAKER AT THE TALLAHASSEE TEA PARTY LAST DECEMBER AND I’VE BEEN TO THE TEA PARTY RALLIES AS HAS NICK EGOROFF. NICK AND I ARE BOTH CO-CHAIR OF THE CENTRAL FLORIDA TEA PARTY AND YOU KNOW THAT TO BE TRUE YET YOU LIE – THIS STATEMENT OF YOURS IS A LIE. WE HAVE NEVER THREATENED ANYONE WITH A LAWSUIT FOR ‘SAYING ANYTHING AGAINST US’ – THAT STATEMENT IS A LIE. LISA FEROLI ABONDONED HER SITE AND ALL 74 MEMBERS WERE ASKED OVER THE PAST 3 MONTHS TO PLEASE TAKE IT OVER – I DID AND THAT’S BEEN RE-AFFIRMED BY THE CURRENT MEMBERS. THEY HAVE ALL BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE CHANGE AND THE NEW DIRECTION AND ENDORSE THAT CHANGE – THE SITE IS ACTUALLY GAINING MEMBERS SINCE LISA FERIOLI ABONDONED IT. THE VILE AND NASTY ATTEMPTS TO GET IT CLOSED DOWN HAVE BEEN REBUFFED ONCE THE TRUTH IS PRESENTED. YOUR STATEMENTS REGARDING THESE MATTERS ARE LIES. THE TRUTH IS WE WOULD PREFER TO BE IGNORED – YOU DO YOUR THING AND WE’LL DO OURS YET YOU PERSIST IN SPREADING LIES, SLANDER AND LIBEL. IT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.

If we ignore them, they will siphon more money from FLORIDA TEA PARTY and votes from conservative candidates and already boast collecting over $43,000. T.G.LEE (who is Republican) gave THOUSANDS to them and we still wonder if he thought he was giving to the movement and not a 3rd party, because his reputation is that he is a strong Republican.

EVERY PENNY COLLECTED BY THE FLORIDA TEA PARTY HAS BEEN CONTRIBUTED BY INDIVIDUALS WHO WERE FULLING ADVISED THAT WE ARE THE OFFICAL TEA PARTY (POLITICAL PARTY) AND ALL CHECKS WERE WRITTEN TO THE FLORIDA TEA PARTY. THIS STATEMENT IS ANOTHER LIE.

BY THE WAY – WE HAVE NO DONATIONS FROM T.G. LEE – HE’S BEEN DEAD FOR TWENTY YEARS – THIS STATEMENT IS A LIE.

Republicans Fear Tea Party Candidate Will Split Vote
Divided Conservatives Could Help Liberal, Outspoken Congressman Alan Grayson Win Re-Election

    POSTED: Monday, May 24, 2010
    UPDATED: 7:20 pm EDT May 24, 2010
ORLANDO, Fla. — Republicans in Central Florida are worried that even a weak showing from the third party Florida Tea Party candidate in the 8th Congressional District could split the conservative vote enough to help re-elect liberal, outspoken Democrat Alan Grayson.

The Florida Tea Party’s actions have upset those who claim they are the real “tea party,” a grass-roots movement not linked to any one party.

South Florida Republicans and tea party groups have sued the Florida Tea Party and its leader and consultants, claiming they are “confusing the public” and attempting to “hijack” the tea party phrase as they “obtain gains, profits and advantages.”

But party campaign finance reports show none of $23,369 in money contributed to the party has been paid to the lawsuit’s targets: party founder and chairman Fred O’Neal; its public relations consultant, Doug Guetzloe; and its communications director, Nick Egoroff.

Instead, campaign finance reports show, they are donating their services to the party: $53,375 in in-kind legal services by O’Neal; $30,800 in public relations consulting from a company controlled by Guetzloe; and $1,000 in communications consulting donated by Egoroff.

The Florida Tea Party, in turn, has donated $7,500 in public relations consulting to Peg Dunmire, a former Republican who was chosen by the Florida Tea Party to run as its candidate in Grayson’s district.

    Splitting The Vote

On his radio show, Guetzloe is promoting Dunmire to conservative listeners, saying on the air recently, “Peg Dunmire is beginning quite the juggernaut of a campaign. … She is a great, great candidate and she’s tremendously conservative.”

Grayson has purchased $2,750 of ads for his campaign on Guetzloe’s radio show –- and while both he and Guetzloe note there is nothing improper about that, it is raising eyebrows among some Republicans.

“Well isn’t that interesting that Alan Grayson would all of a sudden be paying Guetzloe for advertising on his show? Hmmm,” said Patricia Sullivan, a Lake County tea party organizer seeking the Republican nomination to oppose Grayson in November.

Sullivan has organized grass-roots tea party rallies that attract hundreds of people whose opposition to “big government,” taxes, health care reform, President Obama and Alan Grayson put them in line philosophically with many Republican voters.

“We’re all against what Fred O’Neal has done” by creating the Florida Tea Party and running a candidate against Grayson, Sullivan said. She said she fears it will confuse conservative voters, reduce support for the eventual Republican nominee and help Grayson’s chances for re-election.

“It more likely than not is going to split the Republican Party. I’m totally opposed to this Florida Tea Party,” said another Republican candidate, Dan Fanelli, adding he spurned Guetzloe’s efforts to recruit him to the Florida Tea Party.

Noting that Grayson was paying for ads on his show and Guetzloe was supporting the Florida Tea Party, Local 6 asked Guetzloe if this were a way to peel votes away from a Republican and help Grayson. Guetzloe’s response, facetiously: “I was the third gunman behind the grassy knoll, too.”

Both Guetzloe and Dunmire say she is in the race to win it.

“I expect that my running will take traditional votes away from both the Republican and Democratic parties,” said Dunmire. “I fully expect to win in November. We are witnessing a true political change here in Florida. The two-party system is under assault by the actions of candidates like me and the voters will tell us in November if they are in fact supportive of this change.”

“Everything has changed,” said Guetzloe, “because not only of the tea party movement, because of the angst in America today and the possibility tea party candidates can win.”

    Dueling Lawsuits

The lawsuit filed against the Florida Tea Party and its associates claims O’Neal threatened to sue the South Florida activists if they used the “tea party” name and seeks to have a federal judge declare the Florida Tea Party has no exclusive right to the phrase “tea party.” In court papers, O’Neal and Guetzloe deny the allegations in the lawsuit.

Guetzloe later sued two of the South Florida tea party activists who sued him, along with their public relations consultant and a former associate of Guetzloe who is now an Orlando tea party activist. Guetzloe claims defamation, harassment, interfering in his business and “abuse of process” for filing the lawsuit against him.

Guetzloe claims they are engaged in a conspiracy rooted in the “Republican Party Establishment” to “harass and discredit” him and “turn other tea party movement organizations against Guetzloe and the newly formed Tea Party.” He says their actions cost him business opportunities — including work with erstwhile Republican gubernatorial candidate Paula Dockery — inflicted emotional distress and damaged his reputation by, in part, calling him “unscrupulous … dishonorable … and a disgrace.”

For example, Guetzloe argues it was defamatory for one of the defendants to say Guetzloe was subject to a 60-day jail sentence. In fact, Guetzloe faces up to a year in jail at a court-ordered resentencing, but is arguing his 2006 conviction on an elections law violation should be dismissed because a federal court has in another case since ruled that statute unconstitutional. Prosecutors disagree and a court has yet to rule on Guetzloe’s motion to dismiss.

In his defamation claim, Guetzloe also cites “a statement (albeit incorrect) that Guetzloe had been ‘indicted for extortion.’” In fact, in March 2007, Guetzloe was indicted on two felony perjury counts for allegedly lying under oath in proceedings related to a Florida Elections Commission investigation of the 2003 Daytona Beach city elections. The perjury charges were dropped in July 2007 after a key witness against Guetzloe died suddenly.

Guetzloe was fined $4,000 by the Florida Elections Commission in 2007 for willfully violating state elections laws by not properly reporting how much money he spent on that 2003 Daytona Beach city election.

(Guetzloe, with O’Neal as his attorney, is still suing Public Storage and Local 6 in an attempt to regain possession of files that were auctioned off from a storage unit in November 2006 for $10 and then given to Local 6 by the winning bidder.)

    Tea Party Tax Troubles

As for the Florida Tea Party — which complains that Americans are compelled to pay taxes “at the end of a barrel of a gun” — party chairman O’Neal and communications director Egoroff have tax issues of their own, according to official records on file with the Orange County comptroller’s office.

O’Neal has had IRS liens filed against him totaling $155,826 for what the IRS claims are unpaid taxes, interest and penalties.

“It’s not that I don’t believe in paying taxes,” he told Local 6 in December. “People should pay their taxes if they can pay their taxes. And when I can, I will.”

Two months later, the IRS released $53,987 of the liens filed against O’Neal involving unpaid taxes from 1998 and 1999, leaving about $100,000 still claimed for 2002 to 2005, according to the public records.

O’Neal would not comment, including on why the IRS released those liens two months after that interview in December.

As for Egoroff — who is also an adviser to Dunmire’s campaign, a co-host of Gueztloe’s radio show, and was elected as a Republican Precinct Committeeman in 2008 — the IRS in March filed a lien claiming he owed $49,576 in unpaid taxes, interest and penalties covering three years, from 2004 to 2006.

Asked what the public should infer about the tax issues facing two top Florida Tea Party officials, Egoroff — the party’s communications director — replied in an e-mail: “I don’t want to be involved in any media questions or interviews.”

Tea party activists will try to subpoena Grayson, Guetzloe

Tea party activists say they’ll try to serve subpoenas today on Democratic U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson and Orlando political consultant Doug Guetzloe in an attempt to prove they conspired to create the Florida Tea Party and field a spoiler candidate in Grayson’s race.

If the legal move is successful, it could provide ammunition against Grayson in the weeks leading up to his Election Day showdown with Republican challenger Dan Webster. It’s the latest twist in a months-long battle over tea party identity — a battle that’s grown statewide but is centered in Grayson’s Central Florida district.

Members of the tea party movement point to ties between Grayson, a liberal Democrat, and Guetzloe, a Republican consultant and one of the founders of the Florida Tea Party political party. Among those ties: Grayson’s campaign has paid Victoria Torres, a little known Republican pollster, for campaign polling. She’s worked with Guetzloe for years, and has since signed on as a Florida Tea Party candidate in another district.

Guetzloe also has filed a defamation lawsuit against tea party activists Tim McClellan and Everett Wilkinson of South Florida, and Cheryl Matchett of Maitland, claiming the accusations they’ve made against him have hurt his reputation.

Wade Vose, a Winter Park attorney who represents the three activists, told the Orlando Sentinel that he would begin serving subpoenas on Grayson, Guetzloe and Torres this morning. He will try to force them to give depositions in the case before Election Day.

“We are going to be compelling them to appear at those depositions with a number of documents, including all communications Grayson has had Doug Guetzloe or [Torres'] Public Opinion Strategies,” Vose said.

They’re also seeking bank records from Guetzloe and several companies he controls, and from Torres and Public Opinion Strategies.

The Florida Tea Party has put up a handful of candidates around the state, mostly in legislative races.

The party’s first candidate was Peg Dunmire, a business consultant running in Grayson’s 8th District. Florida Republican Party officials contend that Dunmire is a spoiler meant to pull conservative votes away from Webster, easing the way for Grayson’s re-election. Grayson says that is untrue and denies any ties to the Florida Tea Party.
