Might be a great idea if they were actually sent to military camps like Geiger, Pendleton, Bragg, Lejeune etc. Mandatory for both male and female for ALL kids between 9th and 10th grade.
Getting a taste of the real world and true discipline (away from mom and dad) could be a good thing.

However of course that would not fly with the anti-war faction.
So lets add a smiley face and present it as a “help your community” effort?
